When you see someone study with the JW's...
by JH inmy front neighbour is studying with an elder.. he went to his first meeting at the memorial last april.
then he went back another time a month ago.. he went to his 3nd meeting yesterday.. today i saw him and asked him if he went to the hall recently, and he told me he went yesterday.
on saturday i noticed an elders car in front of here, so i knew he was visited by an elder.. today he told me that he liked the 45 min talk, but found the watchtower study sooooo long.. i asked if he will go back next week, and he said no.. the way he talks, he is just curious and went to see once more.. i'm afraid he will eventually be a dub.. i asked him if the elder was giving him a bible study, and he said not yet, but he will soon.. i don't understand why he is accepting to be visited when he told me that he was just interested reading the bible, but didn't want to go door to door, didn't want to go to sunday afternoon meetings, and found the meetings so long.. but still, he is falling into the jw trap.

I'm not trying to say too many bad things about the Watchtower, because he might go even more. You know, the reverse psychology....
I'm with you there.
It does sound like the old man is lonely. If they fulfill that need for him, he will be more vulnerable to their propaganda.

Vocalization about being a JW v. being an XJW
by sweetface2233 ini know that a lot of jws are very proud of being jws, but ever since i can remember i would be very quiet about it.
i wouldn't announce it at school or work.
i would shy away from the subject.

I don't even like telling people I am an ex-JW. However it is much easier than telling them when I was a JW.

Did you ever choke while offering prayer?
by Jourles inof all the times i was called upon to say prayer, i only remember choking once - but it was such a big choke i totally embarrassed myself for days on end afterwards.
and this one time wasn't even at the kh, it was in a home right before we were going to pre-study the wt.. there were roughly 3 elders, their wives, and some other close friends of mine in the living room.
i'd say there were around 10 of us total.

I'm really intrigued by the posts from the females. I never realized this was a problem for the females as well.

I can't believe no one has commented on my experience with the attendant. Has no one had a similar experience? It was well past 2 PM, he saw that I was on my laptop, did he really think that maybe I did not know that the session was in progress?

What "Unwritten Rules" Did Your Congregation Have?
by minimus ini knew of a hall that allowed only white shirted speakers on the platform for sunday public talks!
when a visiting speaker did not wear the official white shirt he was either told that he couldn't give the talk or he could change shirts,as the hall kept a variety of sizes, just in case of an emergency!!!
i don't make this up.

It was an unwritten rule that if you had a two door car you were not very mature. You had to have a four door, so as to be a convenient vehicle for the door to door work.
Outaservice we must have gone to the same Hall.

On an unrelated note, this guy used to play the piano at the KH...until one Sunday, he messed up and got so angry, he started pounding and pounding on the keyboard. It was great!
Awesome story! I just busted out laughing at work, they must think I'm crazy.

Certainly they can't believe that God would actually expect people to decide this major decision at the age of 10 or under, can they?
Even and adult shouldn't have to commit under duress. And why would we serve a God who would kill a little girl just because she is not baptized? What the hell kind of sense does that make?
