nu 31:17-18 moses, following the lord's command, orders the israelites to kill all the midianite male children and "... every woman who has known man ...." (note: how would it be determined which women had known men?
one can only speculate.
dt 21:10-13 with the lord's approval, the israelites are allowed to take "beautiful women" from the enemy camp to be their captive wives.

with many strong feelings or beliefs either way for christianity, atheism, jw would you be willing to die for your beliefs, or are they just feelings that never come from the heart?
if faced with death for your beliefs, would you?.
abr.
abr Since we all have beliefs, we're all going to die for them. I think the question to ask should be, "do you have the courage to live for your beliefs?" A life worth living is a life worth dying for!
Nicely put Deputy Dog. That's kinda what I was trying to say. Those of us who walked away from the WT hope(albeit a false hope)
have chosen to live now instead of waiting for some future reward. That is courage. We are the heroes! ( Maybe that last part's a little bit much
but you get my drift.) We have all received a death-sentence(albeit an illegitimate one) from the WT. According to their dogma, we are going to
die for not recognizing their claim of rulership over us.

Pretty much every culture has its concept of Deity, and to a remarkably similar degree. In my wide studies of religion I have concluded that generally religions have more in common than not. I would posit that your question is answered in that fact.
I'm very careful not to be dogmatic about the matter. I hope I made it pretty clear that I feel unsure about God's existence and true identity. I am sure of one thing. If I make good decisions on a reasonably consistent basis I enjoy a reasonable degree of success. If I do the opposite, I get the opposite result. In other words, I've got to carry on. And I'm doing just that. Jehovah, if He exists and cares and that is His name in the English tongue, knows better than anyone what I've seen in my short life and why I feel the way I do about things. I would humbly welcome any illumination He would throw my way. I just lost any and all confidence that such illumination could come from the arrogant and out-of-touch Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm not angry and bitter, I'm hurt and disappointed.
Thank you for your response, LT. I have been reading your comments for a couple of years. I respect both your logic and your faith.
The post that you responded to above was not meant to arrogantly discount God. If it came across that way, I apologize. Rather it was a response to the dogmatism that is often displayed in such matters. From my more recent post, you see my heart and mind on the subject. I guess what I'm trying to say LT is that I would like to regain faith. With the mental gymnastics I was forced to do for 30+ years as both a JW and a thinker( is that an oxymoron?), it's not going to be easy for me. I sincerely (in all truth and seriousness) welcome any help that may be offered in this regard.

richard parker, a member of the jehovah`s witnesses, says that the refusal of transfusions is one of their fundamental beliefs.
based on what is written in the bible.. .
... that while it is a controversial issue, the refusal of transfusions is a matter of faith for witnesses, and deserves to be respected as their choice.
Murderous Watchtower is run 99% by greedy lawyers, and holy spirit, humanitarianism, love, common sense is nowhere.Jesus said that his true followers would be the "salt of the earth" the Watchtower leadership is the SCUM of the earth

I am humbled. Maybe one day I'll deserve the title my JW brother has given me (with affection) The Apostanator.
Keep on rockin' Danny.

All the "anointed" in my part of the country are considered to be crazies. Even the COs hold them in disdain.
Sorry. After I posted I realized that the topic applies specifically to UK. Apologies.

I will tell you this wanderer, and I'm dead serious. For years prior to my exit/fade, I used to fantasize about being an ex-Witness.
