Sass M.F. -Thanks for being so frank. One could tend to wallow in self-pity about the whole thing but, as you say, no time for that. Thanks again.
Hortensia- Glad you were exposed to some cool experiences at school.
did you refrain from obtaining a degree or advanced studies when you had the chance because it wasn't the witness thing to do?
how has this affected your life?
comments, rants, and personal experiences please.

in regard to the "world is worse and worse" mindset, i recently considered the distress of some of my aging relatives.
there are two facts.
that quietly influence our opinions:.
True, so true. I debate this point often with my Dad whose still in the org. Just tonight the conversation turned towards this. I guess he had been reading the new Awake! Thanks metatron for reminding us how much things have improved. And 1914? Have you guys heard the bastardized logic that WW1 started in the summer of 1914 as opposed to October as Witness chronology would require because Satan wanted something big to distract the nations prior to Jesus' invisible enthronement. You couldn't make this stuff up.
we were conditioned to believe that our work in jehovah's service was sure to bring about his approval.
though many of us here are no longer witnesses, has this mindset been reflective in your personal work ethics?
do you take your job way, too seriously?
You just blew my mind prophecor. I never saw the linkage between the two realms (work & theocratic endeavors). I used to beat myself up as an elder and with other "privileges". Now I just beat myself up in my small business. At least now I get paid (never enough) for it. Great insight! Made my day.

That's good and practical advice Hortensia. However, I'm not only thinking in terms of income. I'm also concerned with something that challenges the intellect and provides the social interaction so important to those exiting a high-control group like the one of which we were a part.
a woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected a half-gallon of 2 % milk, a carton of eggs, a quart of orange juice, a head of romaine lettuce, a 2 lb.
bag of coffee, and a 1 lb.
package of bacon.
That's just so wrong Buddy. Preferred the standard garden variety or the English(they say the English variety is easier to digest)?
i remember overhearing a discussion my parents had in the mid 1970's.
it was about who would be resurrected after armageddon.
supposedly, those who heard of "the truth" and rejected it were dead forever, but those who had never had a chance to hear it would be resurrected for a second chance to submit to jehovah/the watchtower society.. .
As zico mentioned, now your best bet at everlasting life, short of becoming a regular literature distributor for the Christian Congregation of JWs, is to die before the Big A. This has to do with the "new light" regarding the separating work. For the same reason we quit calling the lying, fornicating goats goats. Now any self-respecting dub would say such non-Witnesses are simply showing a goat-like disposition by rejecting our message but in the end only Jesus can call them what they are..................GOATS!
Once again I apologize for the sarcasm. I just can't help it.
does christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses = watch tower bible & tract society?.
i have noticed more and more boe letters and congregational letters that are written by the "christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses".
letters from the society are supposed to come from the watch tower bible & tract society.
Yes, as Mary stated, Teodoro Jaracz is behind it. He quite possibly (JW lingo for I have no facts to support this but just want to throw it out there) owns 51% of the stock.

Sorry for going off topic but I gotta say, zenpunk, that's some mighty fine rum you've got there. No wonder you graduated with a 4.0. Congrats.

Thanks for the great response.
1. Congratulations to all those who overcame the brainwashing, albeit late in the game, to get their education.
2. Congratulations to all those who are about to do the same. You inspire me.
3. Regards and sympathies to all who have suffered from this arrogant and highly irresponsible policy.
P.S. I was at Bethel for about three or four months when we were blessed with the "new light" about college being an option to consider due to the changing work situation in many countries. I wanted to throw the microphone I was so dutifully handling through the wall. Even more amazing to me is the recent return to the old hard-line stand.

Wow. Looks like I hit a nerve. I feel our mutual pain all too well. At least now we don't have to waste one more day on unrealistic promises that we'll die without seeing fulfilled.
