So I called the headquarters.
by DT ini've never done this before, but i wanted to be involved with the informal campaign to call the headquarters on or around the first day of each month.
i haven't even spoken to a witness since i da'd.
i had very modest goals for this call.

It sounds like you handled that very well, DT.
The brother's response was interesting, not what I would have expected.

Thank you Nvrgnbk, I do need to start praying more, not only for my own needs, but also for my country.
Glad to help.

Never underestimate the power of prayer, Dave.
It sounds like your faith is shaken.
Jesus will make his will known 11/04/08.
Hang in there.
Keep praying.

House prices may drop up to 25% - Businessweek
by DanTheMan infull article.
while a 25% decline is unprecedented in modern times, some economists are beginning to talk about it.
"we now see potential for another 25% to 30% downside over the next two years," says david a. rosenberg, north american economist for merrill lynch (mer), who until recently had expected a much smaller slide.

that acquiring a home was a magic key
This was the problem.
Many were buying homes that were out of their reach thinking that all would be ok, as if by magic.
However, owning some piece of real estate, assuming it was purchsed at FMV and not greedily grabbed in some ludicrous bidding war, will in the long run provide a part of the formula for personal wealth.
Speculation, in part fueled by the availability of ARM's, got us into this mess.
Working people opting to buy modest homes in lieu of paying rent to a landlord did not.
JMO.

Nvrgnbk you asked me what I was asking for proof of. It's this
If they are all anointed and spirit-appointed, why is a 2/3 majority all that is required for them to make/change policies?
Can't Jehovah's active force, the same energy used in the creation of the universe, move the hearts and minds of these men to the point that all their conclusions/opinions/decisions about matters affecting God's people are unanimous within the body?
A former member of the GB explained this in his memoirs.
Logic confirms it.
The GB is the "ultimate" BOE.
BOE's often are not unanimous in their conclusions/opinions/decisions.
For example, when recommending men to serve in positions within the congregation ( MS/Elder) there is a provision for those not in agreement with the majority to explain their point of view on the report the CO sends to HQ.
Even on judicial committees comprised of three elders, there is often not unanimity. In the end, the dissenting elder either excuses himself from the committee, convinces the other two to rethink their position, reconsiders his own position, or yields so as not to make waves.
I share the above information based on my own experience having been an elder for seven years.

But there hasn't been any callousness shown; certainly not towards the woman abused by her JW husband. If you think there is, go cut-and-paste it here so we can see just what it is you are prattling about.
A reasonable request in the light of such sweeping generalizations about the heart condition of the posters here.
Thanks in advance, mf.
