What makes someone so sure...

that a surpreme being is gonna help us?.

on another thread that i started i asked what is wrong with the new age ideas.

some people seem so afraid of it.. one poster mentioned that new age stuff is incorrect because jesus is for sure gonna come take us away from this world.. now i am opened minded.

Because living in mystery is scary.

Delusion is often more comfortable than reality.

For some, reality is unbearable.

When has Science Ever been proven wrong by the Bible?

the watchtower sunday made a claim to the effect that when science conflicts with the bible, the bible has always been proven to be correct.

if i had been there, i would have asked "could you provide some specific examples"?.

i'm thinking that reality is actually the other way, science always disproves the bible.

WHAT actually is IMPORTANT?

i have a sense of life, don't you?.

i have a sense of what i don't want to spend my time doing, what i'd prefer doing and what i'll only do if i absolutely have to.. don't you?.

if i find myself running out of time and i can't do everything on my list---i try to do the most important thing.

I hope that my son will be a better human being than I was.

I try to give him the love and affection that I wished I would have gotten.

He's kept me alive when I had no other reason to go on.

after hearing the stupidity of last sunday's watchtower about trusting the bible over science, no matter what, i'm ready to educate myself.. science wasn't one of my strong subjects in high school; didn't like formulas and all that, but i'm ready to learn now.. so, where should i start?.

Suggestions for JW Girlfriend?

so i've been seeing this jw girl for a couple weeks now... she kind of contacted me out of the blue (i've known her since i was 4, shes two years older than i) and wanted to hook up for coffee or something.

i avoided it for about half a month.

not really avoided it, but was going to have fun with it when it came, because i thought she was just going to try to encourage me to go to meetings and whatnot.. so, first time she calls me up at like 9:30pm on a weeknight to come over to her house... so i ride my bicycle over and go inside and she and her cousin were getting drunk on alcohol and they started getting me to drink.

I'm glad you rode out your suicidal patch and you're still with us as our human brother, existing- to be loved, misunderstood, belittled, defended, judged, sermonized, and wished well.

The statement was designed for those who wouldn't dare question it.

If you question the Bible and find it to be unworthy of your confidence then 'you weren't of our sort anyway.'

It works quite beautifully.

Give 'Em Hell, Apostates!

how far we've come in just the last ten years.. just ten short years ago, the term jw "apostate" still carried a stigma of held-over shame to most ex-jws and they rarely called themselves by that term.

i wore that badge proudly, but i had already been out of the wts for over 20 years by then.

slowly, but steadily the term went from shame to neutral to a badge of honor!

all the talk on recent threads about what is real and what is beyond the explainable made me decide to reveal something that happened to me.
