It was damaging to me. Being raised in it, I resented the bible before I was six. I refused to learn it. I also felt deprived of things that the larger world out there would enjoy. Most of all, family values and love as my dad was too interested in the bible and FS work. He was a slave to his god and the WTBTS. Disipline in my home went way over the line and was actually abuse. I found more abuse attending school for the first 7 years before I stood up and fought back. It is not an environment to raise children!

Your opinion on my really important question, please.
by jambon1 indoes a jw upbringing simply confuse a child or is it really damaging?.
i have no doubt that a jw child is, at least, confused with life.
in my own case my wife brings up my 2 children (aged 5 & 2) as jw`s.

The psychology of internet posting
by onacruse inkate and i were having a discussion (with some differences of opinion .
what if there were no "total posts" listed under your screen name?
what if there were no such tags as "newbie, junior, senior, etc., etc., etc.," or "forum assistant, administrator.".

Shamefully I admit I am not an intellectual like many here. I do get intimidated by that and some peoples knowledge of the bible. I never look at the number of posts or status. I did see newbie once and I was reminded that is considered as bad as racial slur where I work because we hire summer help. We call them Temps.

a reminder to all parents.
by dannieboi ini became aware yesterday that my son had an account on myspace.com (without our permission)so i got his user name and password and logged on.
the site was filled with pictures, videos, surveys and a whole lot more.
as i clicked on the related sites of my son's friends, i saw that pornographic sites have the abilility to enter kids' sites under the guise of being a friend.

Here's a new one for me. A girl has asked to be posted as a friend on my account. I have allowed it for two people I can identify and trust, one from the JWD. I looked at this girls profile and saw she had a friend (with a picture)on her list promoting an e-mail address to purshase a male enhancement drug. It was so obvious that they are selling illegal drugs, I couldn't allow it. I'm glad I took an extra minute to check it out.

Threats My Mother Made...
by Frannie Banannie inmy mother was a short (5'2") red-headed, blue-eyed irish woman.
i was just sitting here thinking about some of the bizarre threats she used to make, either to us kids or to someone else that had her dander up.
we always knew they were threats and would rofl or lmao most of the time when she made one.

Interesting question that I had never thought of. I went to many assemblies held in baseball stadiums and horse race tracks. I had a part on stage set up on the pitchers mound at Yankee stadium. I volunteered at assamblies in the kitchen area so I didn't have to be seated for the whole day.

I would like to meet everyone, tops on the list would be, Synergy, Misanthropic, Crumpet and Junctionguys wife. There are other's like Terry and Frannie who can take words from the dictionary, place them in just the right order, and make a huge statement with just a few.

Your childhood being raised in the JWs, brought back many memories of my own childhood. It also brought back some tears. You may have been fortunate not to have attended public schools. There was a whole new lesson in cruelty for me there. I'm writing a book myself, maybe we can exchange autographed copies someday. I hope to read in your next segment that you found a bigger world outside the JWs. My take on the small encapsulated world of a JW,,,no love, no pleasure, controlling and abusive in all way's. Not an environment for children to be raised in. My father raised six children in the JWs. Today we are all atheists and because of his blindness to his faith, he can't understand why. Now that your away from that organization, live, and enjoy every moment.

Welcome to the board Dannie. I have more bad news for you. There are college girls in my area that search myspace for people local and try to lure them out of myspace and onto regular e-mail. Then they try to solicit from there.

What do you tell your kids about God?
by LovesDubs inmy 11 year old son who is an old soul, is a scientist in his heart and waxes philosophically about the universe and its beginnings when most kids his age are playing ps2.
he does that too of course but he spends a great deal of time thinking.
he got into the car the other day and was quiet for awhile and then he said "mom, would you be upset with me if i said i didnt believe there is a god?".

Parents are to Love and Guide their children.
I can agree with that. Guidence and the craming of biblical beliefs down a childs throat so they can be tugged around and put on display are two different things. I don't agree with that!
