To make a long story short I didn't let her now I used to be as brainwashed as she is, she really didn't know much about the JW's, but I let her in on the whole 607BC thing, and made her explain Revelations 7, which she couldn't do.
I hope I caused doubt, but it was funny knowing what she was going to say before she said it and knowing the perfect question to ask in reply. -

Confronting distortions with truth: my battle with JW apologist websites
by coffee_black inconfronting distortions with the truth: my recent battle with jw apologist websites.
i have recently become aware of jw apologist websites that have used my dad's name as well as my own to distort the role the societys' teachings played in my dad's refusal of a life saving kidney transplant and inevitably his death.
my dad's story is told in brief in numerous places on the internet.

And look at your life now with the wonderful and good looking family you have... this was an amazing story , I only hope to be half as good a man as your dad was. I wish you the best.

CAN OBAMA BE PRESIDENT?
by Perry ini just received this email.
i don't see this flying for this election, but if obama wins, it might open the door for changing laws in the future concerning who can be eligible for the presidency and who cannot.
old, at the time of barack obama's birth for him to have been a. natural-born citizen.

Congress can't change the Constitution, an Amendment is not just passed by Congress. "To become effective, the proposed amendment must then be "ratified" or approved by the legislatures of three-fourths of the states. Congress typically places a time limit of seven years for ratification by the states" (US law website). It takes a lot more than Congress passing an Amendment for the Amendment to become part of the US Constitution
unconstitutional legislation made by Congress has been struck down by the SCOTUS on several occasions.
But in this case, (McCain) both his parents were citizens serving on a US base, McCain was born on this base which can be argued is US soil... It'd be interesting to hear the courts rule in this. -

"No he does not. The same questions were raised about him in 2000 and he was declared a natural born citizen by an act of Congress, not that there was ever any doubt anyway".
While I agree that there is little doubt both these candidates are eligible, Congress can't make laws that usurps the Constitution; it requires an amendment to change the constitution. On those occasions Congress has passed laws the Court deemed un-Constitutional, those laws were struck down. If Congress were to pass a law declaring anyone's natural born citizenship, that piece of Legislation would be Un-constitutional therefore not worth the paper it would be written upon.
A person must be born in the US to be a natural born citizen, Congress can't just change that rule.
That said, I can see some doubt as to McCain's eligibility. -

So, I have this conversation with my crazy JW cousin/Jw's wrong again
by dawg init all starts off pretty benign, when she suddenly says "well, you believe man can solve the problems of this world"... she says this because i've ran for political office twice, losing once.
i know where this is going... so i say "i've never said that is our only hope, i just recognize that i live in this reality today, i'm here now, and god's kingdom isn't.. it's the men here now that run things, if god ever steps in, then i'll gladly move aside as i'm sure any man would".
she says something to the effect, that we disagree on that?

I'm sorry I can't answer all these great replies, getting ready to go on vacation.

Jringe, yea I've heard that from JW's myself, about the Kingdom and the like... but that's like you said, that's non-sense. I don't know if man can solve all his problems, but God isn't doing anything. If it isn't man then who's going to run things. And worse yet, other men will damn well step in whether we do or not, and they may not be as nice as we all are.
Aniron, I agree with you -
