Do You Believe It's Possible We Might Be In "The Time Of The End"?

many religions other than jws believe we are at the "end times".

some individuals believe the earth will really be destroyed either by means of god or man in this century.. what's your take?.

Well lets see. Life has been on earth for at lease 4 billion years( simple cell life) Around 2 billion years ago complex cellular life appeared. Modern humans appeared around 200 000 years ago.

There was at least 5 major mass extinctions that we know of on earth. These extinctions were cause by different things.

Catastrophic Agents- such as meteorite impacts and comet showers,
Earth Agents- such as volcanism, glaciation, variations in sea level, global climatic changes, and changes in ocean levels of oxygen or salinity

So it is possible that we see an other mass extinction on earth that can be biologically (humans) caused.

If we do manage to wipe out almost everything I believe that life can evolve into something else with out us being around.

umm, have these attendees made a website regarding the proof of this?!?! Was there some sort of media coverage at the time? something in a handbill?!?! You are gonna need better proof than this -- trust me

There are tons of proof but the thing is most apologist and WT idolater will not accept it even if it is 100% accurate. I confronted my dad about an Awake, oct.8 1968 that clearly said that 1975 was going to be the beginning of the end. My dad has the original, I made him read it to me and all he said was "so?" I said "well they lied", his reply? "I'm glad they lied I am still going to follow them because there is no other place to go"

Not bad, straight to the point, easy to prove what you said is true just one critique if you don't mind, for me the length was okay but for some I have notice that the limit would be 5 minutes when it's something you must read, but then again it's just a little detail.

It seem like a good idea at the time... Actually I was born in. My mother was raised a JW, she was baptised at 16. My dad joined when he was 25, he just came back from a mission in the UN army I guess he like being told what to do and he needed a highly structured environment.

I kept some of my suits because their were not very dorky, they can come in handy.

PAIN

hello everyone, i haven't been on the forum for quite a while.

i have been trying to move on with my life i guess and succeeding to some extent - got a new job and getting out and about more etc.

for anyone that remembers i have a jw son, his wife and a one year old grand daughter who i have been trying to keep in my life after deciding i didn't want to have anything to do with the cult myself.

here's one thing to start off our list: jws can't stand for the country's national anthem (but they can rise for the flag salute).

When my parent's were down and out and they took advantage of government food that was distributed in a church, we went in one.

I always thought that was ironic, you would have to go to another religion to get help. We use to receive the guignollée, it's a food basket they give to the poor on christmas in Quebec, we received one every year for 3 years because we were the poorest family in the small town we lived in. My dad made sure we didn't tell any one in the cong. Every body knew we were dirt poor, and only one family help us.

Now to answer the original question. Posting on JWD. Martial arts. Extreem sports. Kamasutra.

To Quit or Control it....Drinking that is....Who has succeeded and how?

thinking about just giving it up....i always revert back to a nightly habit.....and the occasasinal big escape into the bottle.

but of course you can't live there, and it fixes nothing.. because i think i do have a problem, i went to some aa meetings and found them to be too much like wt.

if alcholism is a true disease, then why is it the only one that needs god (or a higher power to cure (or cope with).

I agree with sweetstuff, you must deal with the emotional reason why you drink. Drinking is just a symptom of a bigger problem. I don't have a problem with alcohol but I had a problem with dope. I would smoke pot all the time , when I cam back from work, before I went to bed, before I had sex, in the morning during the weekend and all day. I just loved getting high. Twice a month I would take something a little harder. I stop when I ended up in the hospital. I was forced to look at my life and fix what was going wrong. Now I don't feel the need any more, I try to smoke a joint about a year ago and I just didn't like it, that was it I knew I was "cured". I tried stopping before that and it didn't work, I had to deal with the reason and not the symptom.

When I "stumbled" a CO.

i can not remember if i ever mention this before but this happend to me a while back and it was something that contributed to my final exit.. before my final fade i faded for about a year and felt remorse (i was still under the"spell") so i did the necessary to go back.

a few weeks after my return it was our co visit and this co i really liked.

he wanted to go out in service with me because he was curious as to why i left and came back and also he wanted to do his co duty and help this lost sheep.

I remember years ago during my first virginal week as a Temp CO having to sort out a married elder in a congregation who was having an affair with not one, but three women at the same time. He had not reported his moral slips because somehow he had persuaded every one of these women to have anal sex with him rather than engage in the conventional mode and convinced them that it did not really count as 'fornication' so there was no need to report it. I have to wonder at his powers of persuation, and the naievity of the recipients of his 'love'.

Frankly, unless the CO was somebody like Norm Lum, or Gary Willichuk whose gall bladder would explode if they had to think outside the 'box', I found most CO's pretty much immune to even the most outrageous scenarios.

doubt whether you really shocked him too much. They may make a pretence of shock, but that particular gift comes with the job after a while.

Maybe, it is something I'd considered but he still did not know what to say to me to make "everything okay". The important thing in my opinion is not the genuinity of his response but how I perceived it at the time and the effect it had on me.
