I Just Found Out That The Elders SAVED A Seat For ME For The Memorial

a few weeks ago, i visited my mom and a couple of elders and a young ms also came by to see her.

while i was there, the elders invited me to the memorial and i was very polite with them and thanked them for their invitation.. i just spoke to my mother and she said the elders saved 2 seats for my mother and i !

they seemed confident that i would show up.. unbelievable!.

I remember when my mother used to boast they had such a large number that attended the Memorial, so I aked her where are these people the rest of the year? Also, I said well, that sounds like Christendom, when everyone just goes to church on Christmas and Easter. Of course her weak response was, "well some of them still come out" . . . .yeah right.

How did/does your congregation view going out to eat AFTER the Memorial?

for us it used to be a big no-no, but i think it has slowly grown more acceptable since many of our elders would be starving during the whole reject jesus party.... i always thought it was a bit funny when i saw brothers and sisters almost celebrating with a big feast and drinks on the night that the good ol' messiah sacrificed himself for all humankind!

it seems now more recently that since it is the only thing witnessess can celebrate, they go all out!

maybe i'll join in the festivities too.. so what about you guys?

I remember the elite group of the Cong used to gather at somebody's house and polish off the bottle(s) of wine and have their own "theocratic gathering".

around here they are becoming popular.

basically it is a congregational effort to get as many people as possible to make a full day of "field service".

That's what I was thiking, a local thing, haven't been to a meeting since the 80's so maybe it is new, but I don't recall my mother mentioning something like this and she died in 2005.

just noticed three tornado warnings that included dallas, arlington, and fort worth.

nws text for these warnings stated that there were two "large and extremely dangerous tornadoes" confirmed on the ground in the area.

Now for the sickening part, if some of the KH's went untouched . . . you know the drivel that they'll be saying, as they hold their meeting tonight while holding flashlights. Especially after seeing those 18-wheelers being tossed thru the air like toys, If my mother were still alive I can her what she'd say, then I would say " but you've been saying that time is near nonsense for forty years, when is it coming"?
