  What would happen if all or most of the Governing Body died in some kind of accident?

  with the organization controlled, totally and completely by the governing body, what would the watchtower society do to hold it all together if all or most of the governing body were to die?.

  would the legal department step in and issue orders?

  would the rest of the gb quickly appoint new members?

  i was sitting next to a sister this evening who during the whole ride she had one of those plastic folders that holds the mags and pamphlets, she had both spanish and english and was holding the folder out in front of her until she got off the train.

  i asked her if she was counting her time, she said yes (of course she asked how do i know about that).

  she said it's not easy talking to the people in the station (seemed like she meant standing with the trolley or just the mags) because sometimes people say things that aren't nice, so she counts her time on her daily commute.

  After if told her I was raised in the man made cult she was following, she said she doesn't follow man she follows Jehovah, I said where do you think all the rules and regulations come from within the Org? Of course she said Jehovah, I said it comes from 7 governing body members, but, she said there are just "5" GBM, are there just five now, or she was wrong?

  Memorial on Good Friday?

  just found out the memorial is this coming friday, which is good friday, don't recall that happening before, or has it?.

  just seems strange that the dubs would celebrate their only special day on the same day that christendom celebrates as well..

  Drugs and Alcohol Ruin Your Life

  this point was raised in another thread vaguely, and wanted to try and expand on it.. the wt has said (and rightly so in my opinion) "that excessive use of drugs and alcohol can ruin your life".

  in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.

  as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

  They've got it backwards, a lot of faithful servants of Jah do drink and/or take prescription pills just to put up with the meetings and the other drivel that's required for being a part of the happiest people on earth

  Do JW Children Still Call Adults "Aunt" and "Uncle"?

  when i was young we were taught to refer to other adult jws as aunt or uncle.. was this also the case in other countries and does it still happen?.

  was it just a custom or has the literature ever commented on it?.

  Never heard of this custom in NYC I area, I agree with what Giordano said, it was also Bro. or Sis. and Aunt and Uncle was for closed friend of your parents.

  CO kept mispronouncing "debt"

  so, this happened a while ago - but i never posted on it.

  during a co visit, he gave a talk relating to jesus ransom (i think) and the "debt" that was owed by sin, etc.... he kept saying "debt" and he kept pronouncing the "b".

  so it sounded like "deb-t".

  My fave is when a brother who was a terrible reader, Southern with not much education, however he excelled at plumbing, one of the few brothers who, if he did work in your house you wouldn't have to worry, he did top notch service, Anyway during his talk he kept pronouncing Hittites as high titties all through the talk

  I used to work at Morgan Stanley, in the Legal Dept, they had a small group of folks actually devoted to Nigerian scams. I guess on the corporate level they're a bit more "professional" in their scamming or Morgan is just an ass backward financial firm, (guess which one I think it is)
