  Welfare and Witnesses

  i'm ignorant to the social welfare programs outside the us, but listening to others i have to assume in europe it is more generous.

  i've not had deep personal conversation with active witnesses for nearly 20 years.

  last year i made contact with a family and some elders came to my house.

  Surprisingly we had a sister in our Cong that was told by the elders that if she was collecting welfare they didn't let her pioneer, because that means she could work. I'm , but I'msure that was a rare approach by the elders.

  A friend of my mothers that used to attend our Cong but moved to Virginia was on disability, but when she visited my mother she said she was a pioneer. So I reported her to the VA Disability Dept. for fraudulently collecting from them, they did check out her case and found out she wasn't collecting anymore at the time that I reported, that was just my part in "keeping the organization clean" !!

  Son's new friend a JW

  my son was never a jw.

  he was born about a dozen years after i left.

  but he's heard about it from me and knows i was one.. recently he has a new best friend at school.

  Steve2 - Interesting that you say in New Zealand you heard Glen Campbell hated the JWs. Here in the US I've heard that his parents (and I think a few of his siblings) started studying, don't know if any got baptized, but heard that he was favorable to the JWs. See what a few miles between the Dubs does to a rumor?

  In all four pages here most of the posts are saying that the "chosen ones" belong in a rubber room and/or jail cell.

  Interesting how they still believe that the anointed receive a sign from almighty Jah, kinda sounds like the women that have killed their own children, but say the God spoke to them and told them to do that

  I was just about to cut off my mother if every time we're in the same room and she'd try to think up something that would get a conversation started about why I should "come back"., which always ended up in an argument. She got sick and was in a nursing home before I could do that, but the way I feel about how she lied to me has not changed one bit.
  

  I always wondered what she would say now if I could get hold of one of those mediums like Theresa Caputo, I wonder if she's offering an apology now saying I tried to steer you the wrong way.

  i get the google alerts for the jws and below is from one of the obits it sent out regarding a sister that was 76 years old when she died:.

  joan attended beauty school and was a certified nurses assistant at the manor nursing home.

  she was a member of the cowlitz congregation of jehovahs witnesses.

  Joan attended beauty school and was a certified nurse’s assistant at the Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Cowlitz Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Joan was a Girl Scout leader and the craft consultant for the Northwest Washington region. She loved her cats and being around people.

  When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's Girl Scouts wasn't permitted. So when did this new light happen, or is it just a regional new light, since in certain parts of the country Dubs are doing things that another part of the country can't.

  Witnesses Preach to Dog

  "in el salvador, one man tied his vicious dog in front of the door whenever he saw jehovahs witnesses nearby.

  the man would wait for the witnesses to move on, and then he would bring the dog back into the house.

  the brothers were never able to speak to the man.

  Saw my first JW literature cart

  i saw a jw literature cart, and two dubs standing behind it this weekend.

  they set up at a popular well attended event in a small town that brings thousands of people from around the country.

  even though i've been out and away from jws for some time, and no longer identify as one of them, and the people i was with had no clue, it was a bit embarrassing to see the cart and cult zombies with it.

  The cart is all over the place now and this is the first time you've seen one? Well, I guess that counts as luck or something

  Like OWTO says he's seen the breakdown of the cart from the back of a car, i've seen the breakdown in a subway station and I must say, taking into account the table and trash (literature) I'm sure it was mentioned in the meetings that a brother must be present, that was quite a load they had their after they packed up. Just imagining those fools loading all that on the subway and carrying it up the stairs if their particular station doesn't have an elevator.
