We had a situation in our Hall about 30 years ago, an Elder who was in da troof for decades, married with grown children, took interest in a sister who was bringing the kids to the meetings with an unbelieving mate, the relationship wasn't sexual, but the elder was removed from elder privileges, can't remember if he was put on probation or not (what's it called when not Df'd, can't remember) but nothing happened to the sister

What would happen ??
by Clambake inthere is a certain elder in my wives hall that has seemed to developed a real interest her.
first he seemed to feel a need to make sure all her blood cards were signed before she gave birth to our child.. he sends her text messages if she misses a meeting saying how much " we missed you last night ".
he finally sent her a text wondering where her oct hours were , knowing she had some pretty serious tears from child birth and could hardly even walk, much less do field service ".

The Bible is a funny book. Names
by James Mixon inisaiah 8:1 the lord named this person"mahershalalhashbaz".. king of babylon 2 kings 20:12 "berodachbaladan or merodachbaladan".
king of assyria 1 chronicles 5:6 "tilgathpilnesar".
and then we have "do do" in 1 chronicles 11 :12. i never heard those names mention in the ministry school.. i wonder who had a hand in naming do do, satan or god..

Well I never knew the name DoDo was in the Bible. I remember finding out when I was kid in the mid 60's that the name Gomer is biblical, it was the same time that the show Gomer Pyle was on TV.
When the name Salome came up in one of the meetings and a child was doing the reading our answering the question you just knew they were going to pronounce it "salami", and a few adults pronounced it that way as well.

Lets start a "Go Fund Me" for those special pioneers being kicked to the curb by the GB,.
by notjustyet inlots of great potential to help those sp that are being sent off without any financial help from the wtbts.
i think that it would be a great way to get some exposure on this topic and how the wtbts thats those that dedicated their lives to the wtbts only to be sent packing at a late age.
then someone can take the funds to one sp couple, possibly, and give it to them in honor of the apostates that know what is really happening.

notjustyet - Are you Band on the Run (BOTR) using a new log in name or something, because I can't follow the two different things you're saying in your title and first post and what you're saying above

I was born into it, but never baptized, I haven't attending a meeting since the 1980's, way before the internet, but what REALLY sealed the deal was when I read Crisis of Conscious, really breaks it down on how it's nothing but a cult. THe internet helped as well, there were certain boards around in the 90's. I remember being a part of Tisihie's board, probably some folks here were on her board too.

Honestly, Do You Still Act or Think Like a JW?
by minimus inor do traces or attitudes still rear its ugly head of your past involvement with the witnesses?
-
ShirleyW
No motherf*^*g way to think I act like a JW now. I hate them for who they are and what they stand and how they totally destroyed many, many lives. Be it just having a normal childhood or those that gave their lives because of the blood issue, but now, "Jehovah" (as in seven old guys in Brooklyn) says you can have blood fractions. . . give me a break.

Take Sides with Jah is an oldy but goody, I remember that one from the green songbook from the 1960's. Speaking of that particular songbook, does anyone remember #1 in that called Hail Him? Well, come to find out back in the 1960's they choose that one to often because it was so close to an old gospel type song, I remember we sang it one time in the mid 60's and one did kinda get you rockin' and rollin', unlike all the rest of their songs. But I remember a lot of the songs and another one from the green book was Dedication, which said verses, like "take my hand and take my feet" yada yada yada, whatever, but that was pretty good (to a kid like I was at the time). Remember the #19 from the purple/pink songbook that sounded Hawaiian ??

The Irony of JW's on Halloween
by Simon inisn't it ironic - the one day of the year you can pretty much guarantee that most people are not only home but anticipating people people calling at their door ... and jehovah's witnesses don't go out that day.. heck, if the householder isn't receptive they even have the get-out option of claiming it was a joke and they dressed up as jehovah's witnesses for halloween!
:d. of course we know the aim of the ministry for most is to avoid talking to people.
that's why they do it during the day midweek or on sat morning or sun afternoon when people are most likely out..

I never heard that Halloween was the day that the Dubs don't out, I don't think anything stops them. If they go out on Xmas they go on Halloween for sure. I guess it depends on where your location is though, since nothing they do has all the Dubs on one page.
