i was talking to a jdub yesterday about child abuse in the organisation and this was his response:.
"it has been known for kids to make stuff up.
we have to trust the society on these things, also the legal process is there.
If your head is so far up your ass that you defend child abuse I wonder if there's any hope for those who think that way. They're so quick to point fingers at other religions but it's going on in their own.
I remember my mother used to dial in to the meetings sometimes and I heard this brother point out in the Washtowel study that very thing about the Catholics and child abuse, like the Dubs have no problem of child molesting - smh

i wrote her a text message telling her not to contact me anymore.
found out that she went back and told my mother some stuff about me.. i shouldnt have never given her my phone number....she's my next door neighbor.. she would always ask if i was going back to the kingdom hall, i would tell her no...people know that i'm not going back to the kingdom hall, and they still think that i'm going back.. i'm planning on moving from my hometown in 2 years and i cannot wait to leave!!!!
so tired of people still thinking i'm a j-dub, i've told people i havent been to the kingdom hall since 2011, and they still think i'm going back.
she's your neighbor, so, like she runs to your mom and tell her things, knock on her door and curse her out and set her straight.

i was baptized 30 years ago and have been in the faith for over 35 years.. our organization isn't perfect.
but i'm sick to death of seeing stereotypes about us.

so last weekend, the jw's ring the bell and my wife answers.
we live in a heavily spanish neighborhood but don't really speak spanish.
i thought my wife was quite clear that she is a "sister" to them, but maybe the one in charge of the group didn't get the message.

my wife has held onto them like they were family heirlooms.
we are cleaning and clearing out accumulated stuff and i pointed out that there is the cd-rom library now and that the society has made revisions and really doesn't want us to be reading the old stuff.
she said that even though there have been changes to the teachings, the wrong understanding served its' purpose at the time.
WHen I cleaned out my parents house, the first thing I had them throw in the bin was those bound volumes, going back to the early 60's. But then, I think we're doing what the Borg is doing with them now, they don't acknowledge out their bullshit and lies from way back when, so I guess we made them happy by throwing them out?
so i'm at work and go to my vehicle parked outside the empty property i'm working at and an elderly man comes out of next door and we recognise each other from when we were elders in the same circuit.
he is early 80's in age, a jw since the 1960's and so the next generation in age up from me.. he's an outwardly jolly sort and asks how i am etc.
(knows i'm not an elder but thinks i'm pimi) and asks if i want a cup of tea so i go in and sit in his kitchen for my lunchbreak and have a chat.. i have a little fish around and ask about how jw's in his hall are.
after reading that update about his family and friends, he's still holding on, sad
so the guy in my office on the desk next to me has just got back from the funeral of his wifes sister.
this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.
she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.
I didn't have my mom's funeral at the KH, but I let a brother give the talk, I pointed out to him DO NOT make it sound like a sale pitch for the Dubs.
He didn't, but if he was going to veer off subject and do it anyway, I would've had no problem whatsoever calling him out on it in front of everyone.
