I guess that's what I did, disengage, since I was a born-in and never baptized, I never really brought into it but when I got around my early twenties my father saw that I really wasn't into it and I didn't have to go to meetings anymore if I didn't want to. So since that was all I knew since birth, I guess I "disengaged" from da troof.

Fade..... or this?
by Giordano inthere are four ways to leave the 'truth'...... alive............you can be disfellowshiped...... then shunned, you can formally disassociate yourself and be shunned........ you can fade.
the first two words belong to the society, fade on the other hand is defined as 'to gradually grow faint and disappear.
' 'walking away' has it's own negative connotation about one's commitments and relationships.. i think some folks feel uncomfortable with these words.

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?
by Xanthippe inso my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

I agree with those who say you should send the text, but sometimes their hearts and minds are sooooooo brainwashed she just might look at it like a Spam email and quickly disregard, which is terrible, plus you say she hasn't been exactly too friendly to you these past few years.
Just go with your heart which is in the right place and send a quick get well soon message.

Are JWs capable of a genuine discussion?
by stuckinarut2 ini was just pondering whether jws are capable of having a calm, in depth discussion about religious or faith topics?.
i have just finished listening to a great podcast by "dogma debate" (dan) episode 333. this fantastic, in-depth conversation between a theist and an atheist was a masterful example of how a dignified conversation can take place without it resorting to abruptness or even nastiness.. jws on the other hand seem incapable of having such discussion without ending up in the following ways:.
1)they get dogmatic and defensive if a differing view is presented.. 2)if the conversation doesn't go their way, they cut it short saying something like "well, we had better agree to disagree" or the like.. so why the arrogance?

Of course they are, just as long as you agree with them on everything, that's a genuine discussion to them, as long as they make their point and don't agree with others, it's been a good day for them.

Does anyone know what the reason is for counting time? It's not like they're paying you, if they were they were they probably wouldn't care if you didn't get any time in, but what's the point, just because you go out doesn't mean you place any literature, what the real purpose?

If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

I'd just have to throw them a question like why can you now take blood fractions, or show them the clippings from their own literature where it says those children who were in grammar school in the 60's would not even get to HS because the new system will have arrived by then.

Guilt trip
by Jrjw indid anyone have other jws try to guilt trip them when they were leaving or if you were making a decision which jws felt was wrong but wasn't unscriptural?
i'm getting people guilt tripping me to eventually get back with my emotionally, spiritually and mentally abusive husband who i'm separated from.
i feel sick at the thought of getting back together and putting myself through that nightmare again but i'm being told its what jehovah wants coz he doesn't want families to be apart.

We should be angry of how they're still duping people into believing, while now they can do it sitting on a fold up chair in any subway station while not talking to practically know one all day and still get their time in.
We should be angry with all the new light, that changes overnight and they just lap it up like hungry dogs with out any thought process like they can now take blood fractions, whatever that is, but it comes from blood, which they are totally against taking

Still angry when I was growing up and in my teen and young adult years I was not included in the activities that the others were invited too, supposedly because of my lack of interest for da troof and my mother always used to say "well if you were doing what you are supposed to be doing regarding Jehovah you would be invited", yeah, still Hell mad at the young folks in the "only true religion on earth" and their judgmental attitudes..
