Have you noticed that disfellowshipped Witnesses are treated differantly?
by isnrblog inmy family does not speak to me.
i have no problem with that as they are pains in the ass.
but during my tenure as a jw, i noticed that differant families would treat their df'd members differantly, even if they didn't live in the same household, often inviting them over for dinner, etc.

I remember about twenty plus years ago, a family that we were close to, there youngest daughter was disfellowshipped but still living at home, I think the dad had already passed away by this time, and I remember her mother telling mine (that good ol' JW gossip !) that one of the brothers told her that they shouldn't even sit at the same table for the evening meal, mother, thinking this was too harsh a treatment went to the others elders and was told basically "well, you can't eat with her, but no "in depth convesations otherwise",
Sad to believe that at one time or another we all would've eaten up that bullshit stated above. . . .and how sad it is to think that a mother in her despair ate it up as the "gospel truth" !!

RE Minimus topic re giving parents blood
by ShirleyW innot meaning to take away from minimus posting, but i have a quite interesting experience i'd like to share with my "ex borg brothers and sisters".
just want to say first off the feeling that ran through my mind when i gave the dr. the ok to give my mom blood, and she just has a minor procedure .
i tell you, those jehoobers do a number on your brain, especially if you were rasied within the fantasy.. day after her operation, needless to say sis.

Not meaning to take away from Minimus posting, but I have a quite interesting experience I'd like to share with my "Ex Borg Brothers and Sisters". Just want to say first off the feeling that ran through my mind when I gave the Dr. the OK to give my mom blood, and she just has a minor procedure . . I tell you, those Jehoobers do a number on your brain, especially if you were rasied within the fantasy.
Day after her operation, needless to say Sis. "Middle-aged and still stickin' to it although she's never been laid (and it shows in her/their behavior) stopped by with two others that fall into same category, Sis. Pure goes to nurses station and asks if mom was to receive the blood, sighting her JW stance, I'm sure all she was told keeping in mind confidentiality laws regarding Health professionals, she was told that procedure was Ok'd, like it was her business. One of the CNA's informed me of the inquiry, so I called Sis. Pure and told her that she can contact me directly instead of going to whomever if she had a problem LIKE IT WAS HER BUSINESS anyway, she said "oh, once I heard it was approved by you I let it go" by the way, her mom is a nurse.
ANYWAY, next day I get a message from one of the elders to call him . . .guess what he wanted to know, ? ? ? (btw got his call before I confronted her directly). I must say that for all the brainwashed followers of the Borg that I met through my mother since i left the troof more that 20 years ago, he and his wife are the only ones I can tolerate . . . keeping that in mind, I'm sure my dear Bro. has never heard the words and phrases I used on him in such quick succession, plus keeping in mind I"m a New York City woman, unless he snuck out of Bethel one eveing and hooked up with a Lady (or Man) of the Evening and didn't pay her what he/she asked for . . .
How dare he tell me what I should've done for the woman who gave ME life !! How dare he ! ! ! As mentioned above, such feelings were "relayed" to him in the most appropriate manner ! ! But, once again, considering all the "love" I have for the BORG it even shocked me that at the first feelings I had when actually confronted with the situation, I started to say no blood, but then you get a hold of yourself and say, Hey, this is a cult . . .no matter what they want or told you to do if something happens to them, you can't make a medical decision based on a man made religion that isn't even old enough as the light bulb ! ! !

Believing Everything Someone Tells You
by minimus inare you the type of person that believes everything a person says?.
typically, my radar goes up, especially if a person either brags about all his or her accomplishments or tells you a sob story about how awful their life is.. i was reading here today about how some posters have been upset with others for either feeling someone is fraudulent or is uncaring or caring too much.. the funny thing is that most of us never really know who or what a person/poster is all about.
they could be perfectly upfront and tell you everything in a most truthful way or they could be conning you.

Back in the earlly 70's we had a Bro. Bill Mironchuk whose letter was read from the podium that he no longer wanted to be associated with the Borg, i think he was either on reproff or DA'd at the time can't quite remember since I was just in Junior High School, needless to say he was the gossip of the " loving fellowship" after every meeting (not to mention the telephone wires that were burned up) for quite some time. WOnder what ever became of his wife, son and twin daughters, anybody from Queens, New York remember dear old, Brother Bill?

by B_Deserter ini cannot think of any worse place to have a convention than the pontiac silverdome.
for years my family went to south bend, indiana to avoid it.
then when south bend stopped having conventions (probably having something to do with the catholics not appreciating the brothers slamming the religion that financed, built, and hosts the lovely arena they were using), we tried madison, wisconsin for a year, before finally trudging back over to silverdome.

Back in either 1966 or 1967, there was an ASSembly in Washington DC (back in the day although we were in NYC, assemblies were usually out of town), can't remember the name of the stadium, but, FOUR DAYS WITH NO BATHROOMS ! ! ! They were out of order for the whole ASSemly! ! ! Thank goodness I was a child and didn't yet have a coffee/alcohol habit . . .but then, think of all the dear Bro's and Sis' that had such a habit and no facilities to run to !!
Can't even imagine that these days such a venue would even be made available to the public to use anyway !!!

Like Dinah, I used to do the countdown, that "one hour" was always stretched to include another 30 minutes ! ! !
In the 60's we used to get an intermission on Sunday, which just meant you got home later !!

Any Old TImers remember Awake (early 1960's) saying JW's could vote ?
by ShirleyW inb-deserters post reminded me of something that was posted quite some time ago, matter of fact, it could've been posted on tishies board, if some of us here remember her website.
a poster on her website quoted the exact date of an awake magazine going back to the early 1960's which clearly stated that jw's could vote if they wanted to, conscious was not mentioned in the article !!.
i went down to my mother's basement, looked up the exact date that was mentioned, and sure enough there it was in plain black and white, jw's had the vote!!
