Being a JW Used to Be Fun :-)
by snowbird inwe found some people who were happy to welcome us into their homes, even offering us food and drink.. sometimes, they would flag us down and ask for the magazines, walk miles to the kh meetings, come to our defense if someone got ugly or rude.. now, jw's are either routinely ignored or outright vilified.. no one respects them anymore.. sad.. .

Us Yankees way up north always heard how down south the JWs would get invited in for a cold drink and to sit for a spell beforer they moved on to the next house, since the houses were always down the road from the other houses

I was never baptized, but I was a born in and never believed in the BS, I was in my early 20's and living at home when my elder father said I didn't have to attend the meetings anymore (much to the dismay of my mother).

Had an argument with my wife about tinkerbell :(
by BU2B inone of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.
as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.
i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.

Pistoff said - I told him I thought the Simpsons was not good for him to watch, with the bad attitude of Bart, the overall sarcastic nature, etc. He looked at me and said: "It's just a cartoon Dad." I was speechless, he was right; he watched the Simpsons from then on.
My mother told me, and this is going back much more then ten years (and the fact she passed in 2006) that one of the brothers at the circuit assembly mentioned that Dubs shouldn't watch The Simpsons since Bart isn't very respectful to his father.
So in other words just because this brother couldn't stand the show he had to command the other faithful, blind worshipers of Jah not to watch the show either.

Can't be something you just learned Sylvie, that black don't crack saying is probably older than you and me.
Have to say though, Caroline Kennedy was born two weeks before I was in the same hospital, my mother was already there due to complications, so everytime she or her family were on TV I always heard that story ad nauseum. So when I finally saw her in person about two years ago I was absolutely gobsmacked, we all meet that one person that we went to school with or something that looks a hundred years old, well . . . ol' Caroline totally gobsmacked me, other folks I still run into black and white don't look as wrinkled and aged as she does.

LongHairGal - Since you mention the Cult is nothing but a boys club, that reminds me of an elder who's son knocked up just about all females in the 5 boroughs of New York City. His dad was in danger of losing his elder status in his Cong, so he transferred to another Cong on Long Island, so he could retain his title, How about that? Jah's spirit at work indeed !

Could you get disfellowshipped for simply asking questions?
by LogCon inif so, what would be some examples?.
.
only questions that show a higher degree of thought and intelligence please..

I would imagine you could get DFd for asking questions that you used your brain for that Jehovah provided you with for thinking up questions about things in the Borg that just don't add up, of which there are many.

Well I hate to give them credit, but a Sister that needed a heart operation needed two thousand cash before she could be admitted or whatever the case was, I was about 19-20 at the time, however, calls were made all evening trying to get the money and, lo and behold, they came up with the dough.
