  What Were Your Elders Real World Jobs?

  we all know that education is severely demonized in this religion.

  and that the elders are appointed based on how many meetings they attend, hours they put in on the ministry and general attitude to other elders (as apposed to, you know, actual theological training and counseling) - so my question is, what were your elders occupations outside the kingdom hall?.

  in my old congregation our elders consisted of:.

  One was a member of MENSA and had a good job in IT

  You mean one elder was so darn smart he was a member of MENSA, but yet he was a JW? Just goes to show, smart people are crazy.

  i was at my assembly when this was discussed last week.

  of course i hadn't prepared and i heard "no rules about limits", or at least i thought i did.. here's the direct quote from the watchtower study article.. "although the bible does not provide specific rules about the kinds and limits of love play that might be associated with natural sexual intimacy, it mentions displays of affection.

  the watchtower (study edition) august 2016 : making christian marriage a success, paragraph 8.. what say you?.

  Petty Rules

  did your congregation have any petty man made rules?

  i remember the elders in my cong didn't like if a single brother and single sister walked in the parking lot together after the meeting ended, to their car.

  you couldn't hold the mic or give a talk without a coat (that might be a universal jw rule).

  I know a sister who while growing up went to a Congregation in Baltimore and she said that at wedding receptions playing records (this was back in the 70's) wasn't done at JW weddings, one of the dumbest rules I've ever heard.

  If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?

  jehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.

  i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.

  .....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

  What kind of cheese do you like?

  i went to www.sensibus.com and they have 160 different kinds of cheese.

  i just do not know which cheese i want to order.

  any suggestions?

  Blue D'Avergne not sure if I spelled that right and now I'm hooked on German Swiss.

  cheeses from street fairs are usually made from raw milk I think so they taste different than the cheeses sold at a cheese shop. I usually buy two or three different ones to find out which are my faves.

  i was just chilling watching tv with a cuppa, when i heard a car outside.

  disillusioned2 - Don't let that jackhole and his wife make you feel uncomfortable in your own home, Just flip the switch and imagine you stepped foot on their premises with a cigarette or blasting loud music, you know how that pompous attitude would ask you leave with no problem at all.

  Gloria went to the congregation that met in the same Hall as my cong. She used to be a pioneer in the 1970's, so when I read of all the degrees she has, that obviously happened when she left da troof since she was pioneer when it was 100 hours per month plus the fact back in the 70's college was DEFINITELY a no-no for dubs back then. She was also on the $25,000 Pyramid back then, and of course everyone was gossiping about should a JW be on a game show playing for money, I know she didn't when the $25,000, then of course the gossip would've been wondering if she was going to donate some to the 7 old guys in Brooklyn.
