Holiday field service
by All or nothing intoday is 4th of july in my part of the world- the us- and i was reflecting how we were strongly encouraged when we were still in to go out in the ministry on holidays.
i just mentioned this memory to my husband and we reflected on how cult like this was.
anyone else have thoughts on this?

July 4 th Independence Day... Do You Know Any Witnesses That Celebrated?
by minimus ini knew of a ministerial servant that was called out because he used fire crackers on the 4 th of july.
we had to have an emergency meeting as to his qualifications.
i remember imploring the body to not make a big issue over this and it was decided to just “counsel” him about being involved in a patriotic holiday.🤨.

I'm sure all the Bethelites in Warwick are sorry they're going to miss the Macy's fireworks display this evening, since the barge is going to be right under the Brooklyn Bridge, all they would have to do is just go to the roofs of the various Bethel bldgs, like they always did to watch the the display

Anyone drop out of high school or not focus on grades becuase the end was near

my uncle offed me a job and the end was only a few years away.
my mother even though she was dyed in the wool at the time said she would only go along with it if i took a correspondence course out of american correspondence school out of chicago.

Pete - I graduated in 1975 too, the year that was supposedly to be our last on earth, and here we all are, as they still preach the end is just around the corner. It just doesn't add up, as my mother always said, "use the brain that Jehovah gave you", appears that none of Jehovah's happy people don't do that or they would see that they've been preaching that the end is almost here just about since the JWs first started, how do folks buy into that stuff without realizing their message hasn't changed for decades and decades?

by APieceOfShitNamedTate ini know a lot of you don't even know who 50 cent and ja rule are, but anyway, these guys have been sworn enemies since the late 90s.
they are rappers, and ja rule's mother was a jw.
she is now disfellowshipped, and ja rule said that he stopped attending the hall around age 11. he was never baptized, and has stated that he hates the religion.

I knew Jah Rule before his was born, his mom and her family used to go to my KH.
His dad was a JW,but he died almost ten years ago, after they separated he got mixed up with the wrong crowd after he left da troof.
When I was cleaning out my mothers house I found the pic from their wedding, the little one that they send out with their thank you cards for the gifts.

There's nothing to watch on TV anymore ???
by RubaDub indo you find yourself, as i sometimes do, skimming through channels on the tv remote and not finding anything interesting to watch?.
growing up, we only had four channels on our tv (nbc, cbs, abc and pbs).
and yet there always seemed to be something of interest to see.. sadly, i often find myself watching shows where some guys are auctioning off storage lockers, killing alligators, picking junk from peoples' garages or barns, catching tuna, towing cars, driving trucks on the ice, catching crabs, running pawn shops ... etc etc etc.

Well, I have another 30 day free Netflix trial, so I'm trying to cram everything in this time around before July 6 when it expires, they have a lot of good things and lots of variety. I don't know your age, but I remember TV shows from the 1960's, so there are certain channels that show reruns from the 60's and before they are my main focus.

Regarding that video, it ran approximately eight minutes, I dragged the pointer along to skip a minute or two to see if they were going to show a talk or something, do the KH songs now last a whole eight minutes!! That was the whole video ! However glad to see that there were huge sections in the arena that were totally empty, something that has been going on for the last few years I've noticed.

IF reparations is about sending all black folks a check, trust me, it will never happen.
However, I must say I just found out recently that Holocaust survivors get "reparations", can't remember where I read that, but didn't know that before, which I find very interesting.

What is the biggest doctrinal mistake made by the Watchtower /JWorg. ?
by Finkelstein inpersonally i think it is 1914 and the following " this generation " doctrine.. this particular doctrine went right against jesus's own words of " no one knows of the time not even he " .
he also admonished his true followers to not set a time upon god's own sacred time .. the leaders of the wts even back to the late 1800's set a time calculated on their own theology 1874 being the first time set and proclaimed by c t russell, also proclaiming 1914 would likely be the year of the final day of judgment armageddon.
all throughout the 20th century the wts held to this doctrine but was eventually revised of course when it was realized this generation had passed away who saw the events of 1914. .
