Reunited With My Disfellowshipped Daughter Today

long story short: my daugher was df'd about 7-8 yrs ago.

bitter and resentful toward me, abusive jw ex-husb and the elders that didn't want to listen to her side.

saw her briefly at my younger daughter's wedding in 2003.. my mom died last week.

My Mom died last week. My daughter shows up at the burial today. It's only me and my wife.

My daughter and I were both apprehensive about seeing each other again, not knowing what to expect. What a WONDERFUL time we had together. I showed UNCONDITIONAL love. There were apologies and forgiveness. It was absolutely GREAT.

I now have a better relationship with her than with my other 2 kids who are active JW but keep their distance from me because they know I don't buy the FDS/GB myth anymore. I am not df'd or da'd however and still go to an occasional mtg.

I must give all the credit to my wife who doesn't let JW rules dictate her actions.

Dffing, a favor?

it removes the disfunctional and the cultists from your life in one clean sweep.

I avoid DA and DF for only the sake of my mother, and to a lesser degree, my wife.

Same with me except my Mom died last week. My wife knows I don't believe anymore but my being df'd would be a problem for her because she has a FDS worshipping brother.

I stay "in" only because of my mom. I dont think she would shun me, but with dubs, ya never know.

My sentiments exactly except my Mom passed away last Thursday, although she did say, "if you're not in the 'truth' you're no son of mine.

My close friends..who knows, as long as I am only faded and not d/a or d/f...maybe they will talk to me. If not, then what kind of friends are they? (oh yeah....the Borg-infested kind)

Where I have stayed away from the book study (how many times must we eat the same regurgitated BS in the Revelation book? talk about dog returning to its vomit?..

I personally can't imagine sitting thru that stuff.

ABSOLUTELY! Like IP-SEC everything except accounts and DC parts. Actually I was in a drama in 1980 and asked by the C.O. if I could "handle" the oversight of a drama in 1994. I declined because there was too much on my plate. Aside from that I put off saving for retirement and I remember smugly disregarding the advice of some retirement-planning people that visited me probably in the 80's.

just wondering if anybody here did the baptizing..... by that i mean, if anyone here ever dunked someone in the pool at an assembly.. now that i brought this subject up, wouldn't it be biblical to let anyone baptize someone?.

1984 WT Bound Volume; a review of Cult gold!

sorry if this is long.

i happened to be at my mothers house last night, and decided to look up the whole explanation of the 1914 doctrine.

i have seen from others on here and also the internet the covers from some of the 1984 watchtowers that talk about 1914, a focal point of bible prophecy?, 1914, the generation that will not pass away, etc.

Therefore, if you are an ignorant 3rd world peasant or barely educated in history, you’ll eat up whatever they put forth as absolute truth without a blink of an eye.

The only thing I would change is the ref to the third world. IMO many in the "first world" prefer ignorance. This allows them to believe what they WANT to believe. Someone who actually THINKS and critically analyzes what is presented to them will eventually see the flaws in WT teaching.
