rather than hijack another thread and inspired by fullofdoubtnow and dedpoets music for the wedding thread i thought i would start a little "dedications" thread - this isn't the sort of dedication symbolised by dunking though!.
(i expect to see ggbg and ofg here forthwith for some romantic dedications).. i'd like to dedicate the following to someone special - "bodies - by drowning pool" .
they probably wont see this, but the thought that counts!.

hello all,.
i am after some information about the "smurf ban" of the 1980s.... does anyone have anything in writing / scans or mp3s (even hinted at) ???.
thanks all.
I once heard two pioneers telling a sister she should toss out the box of Smurfberry Crunch cereal her kids liked because Smurfs are demonic. As if a breakfast cereal could possess her kids... what a lot of nonsense!
Tarot cards are a very cleverly made tool. Each card shows an archetypal experience (one that is common to all humans...work, love, endings, beginnings etc). You choose however many for whichever spread you choose to use, and the cards help you explore aspects of whatever problem you are wrestling with. If you use them as a tool for self-examination, and don't expect fortune-telling, they can clarify your thinking on your problems. I seldom get mine out any more but they always point the way toward understanding a situation when I do.
i will start....i can speak conversational albanian....thanks to the foreign language field...really useful in everyday life as a cleaner....sniff...why didnt i pick mandarin?

I'm a trained weather spotter for the NWS.
I'm also the klutziest person I know, it takes extreme concentration to do anything requiring manual dexterity. Stubbornness overcomes clumsiness most of the time, so I learned to sew a hem and crochet and use a kitchen knife, but it's always work to do anything (like type) that requires some skill. Arthritis increases the klutz factor so some days I can be outperformed by a lemur. Sad but true.
reading hortensia's topic "menu" made my mouth water.
i remember in the 70's (when we used to be able to have lots of jw social get-togethers like picnics and parties) some of the friends would bring pot-luck specialties that were to die for!.
everyone has a dish they consider their "specialty" which gets high praise and generally requests for the recipe.
Biscuits and gravy, hillbilly style...mmm. Must be good cause I overheard my brother telling a pal that my biscuits are almost as good cold the next day as they are hot from the oven. Learned to make them by watching my mom when I was a tadpole.
what have you been looking for and cannot find it?
it can be anything, anybody, etc......
I'm looking for Ginny Tosken...anyone know her whereabouts?
just going to see all the faders and disfellowshipped (or otherwise) that the families have dragged in, so you could plan a meet up?
you could tell who they are because no one would be talking to them..
A very naughty pal once suggested dressing in outrageous outfits (her in leather, me in my gypsy skirts and shawls) and go to Memorial and chug the wine and complain about the bread.
We refrained from doing so. Couldn't help speculating on the reaction though...

I know why so many men like tuna casserole. Think about it. It has tuna and mushroom soup... what does that smell like? Hot sex! it's comfort food because it's a familiar smell...
Last night I had no cream soup so I made a cream sauce instead, and the boys called it 'lesbian tuna casserole'. When I don't have noodles, I use boxed mac&cheese.
2 boxes mac&cheese
2 cans tuna, drained
I can cream of chicken or mushroom soup
I 1/2cup milk
1/2cup butter or marg.
2 cups frozen peas
1/2 teaspoon cayeene pepper
Cook mac just to hard al dente, put peas in colander, drain mac over peas to thaw them. (I cook this in an oven-proof pot; one pot to clean.) Add cheese sauce packets, milk, spread, and soup to pot, stir to mix, add mac and peas and tuna, season with cayenne and whatever you like. No salt! This is salt overload from the fish and mac sauce. Top with buttered bread crumbs. Bake 375 degrees F for about 20 minutes. Super simple and older kids can make this for themselves. My kids like crushed potato chips on top.
I've used garlic mushroom soup for this. We like cream of chicken soup better than mushroom. Use plain egg noodles if you don't like cheesy tuna.
Cheap food is my specialty...
any bread bakers here?
i am enjoying john mayer's "heavier things".....my boys keep me up to date!.
we had so many exceptional artist for those of us growing up in the 70's,...i am curious as to what you enjoy now?what are some of the latest artists you enjoy?.
any younger posters feel free to clue us in as to your favorites!.
I spend most of my time listening here. When I need a change I whip out the jazz cds or some old hippiedippy stuff from my past. Tull, Traffic, Hendrix...old blues guitar tunes or maybe some newer ones. Mostly I am happy with the folk coz they play celtic, world music, all sorts of cool stuff. My canary grooves to folk alley, he started singing again after over 2 years of birdie silence on the second day I left folk alley playing all day. He seems to like banjo and mandolin and girl harmonies.
