More Partaking at Memorial, Could It Be the Elderly?
by Franklin Massey inthis is not a conspiracy theory, although the goofy title may suggest otherwise.
the memorial partakers keep going up and up each year.
there are obvious reasons for this and the wt, feeling the embarassment and threat to the 144,000 doctrine has addressed it in the publications.. but i was thinking back on an odd situation that happened with two older, long time, faithful jws.

.....and then there's that nasty little period of time at the end of the 1000 years when Satan will be let loose once again to TEST everybody. What if they aren't able to pass that test?! They could still be destroyed forever. Best to embrace oneself NOW as one of the remnant and be guaranteed life eternal. (This is probably how I would begin thinking if I were an elderly JW right about now.)

when she became senile.
Senility is a whole different can of worms. Very sad.
But, I'm talking about the elderly that still have quick minds. I have known and still know some quite elderly people whose mental capacity is still sharp as a tack. There are some very elderly people on my hubby's side that are very interesting to talk to. His great grandmother passed away at 104 and although virtually blind, her mind and wits were still sharp.
FM, this would be an interesting thing to determine. Are more of the JW old-timers being drawn to the appeal of going to heaven immediately? After all, the way the WTS keeps moving their prophetic dates up, they could lie in their graves for "GENERATIONS" before being resurrected!

Most very elderly people have a deep sense of something beyond this physical life (in my personal experience with conversations with them). It seems as death gets closer and begins to whisper little nothin's in their ear, they awaken to something beyond themselves in this physical dimension. Physical life begins to seem like a movie they were in for a few decades, or lessons in a classroom. Their perspective changes and they start "hearing" and "seeing" with different ears and eyes.
For JWs, this period of time becomes very conflicting as they fight off this "knowing" and try desperately to deny it.

A Concerned Elder Speaks
by Franklin Massey ina lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.
many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.
i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?

Higher education doesn't just teach you what to think, but HOW to think for yourself. The WTS cannot afford to have a membership of people that are able to do that. It would destroy them.

My Story not for the weak of heart
by TotallyADD ina year after my parents were baptized i was born in 1954. that same year my father was appointed presiding overseer and remained in that position until the early sixties despite the fact he was still smoking.
he gained the position by default because he was the only baptized man who could read.
thus began my life course of abuse, neglect and cult thinking.

I normally don't read lengthy personal stories that are not formatted with paragraphs, but as I began to read yours, I couldn't stop. So much heartache, fear, guilt, and confusion for a small child to deal with. So happy you're happy now, Totally ADD!! Looking forward to the rest of your story.

The GB are older out-of-touch men that have no inkling that times have changed, and that GONE are the days of finding decent-paying jobs without higher education. They are still living in the 60's and 70's (or earlier) where young men could just walk into a factory or plant and get a job with just a high school diploma. Jobs have changed.
Someone needs to educate these old farts.

A Beloved and Compassionate Elder Trapped in a Cult Just Died , What should I do?
by TastingFreedom ini just heard the sad news that a very loving and kind elder for the congregation that i belonged to for 15 years just died from a heart attack.
he was someone that i had great admiration and deep respect for, even now that i'm out from the jws.
he was my mentor and an inspiration to me as an elder, and in many ways he showed me the contradictions of the wts, he was a breath of fresh air within a cult.

What a beautiful "eulogy" you wrote.
JW funerals are so horribly cold and disconnected from who the person truly was in all of his/her aspects. They focus only on one fact: he/she was a Jehovah's Witness. From there, the rest is just an infomercil for the WTS.
I would go to the funeral, sit quietly and respectfully in the back. It may be uncomfortable for you to be shunned by others, but just let it wash over you.
My sympathies for the loss of your dear mentor and friend...........journey-on

They will probably make it seem like yet another test of faith. Remember, "he that endures to the end will be saved." And more than not will buy into it for yet ANOTHER generation.

When the Reptillian Anti-Christ is unmasked, what is your firearm of choice to kill our invaders?
by WingCommander inthis subject thread has been on my mind for a while, especially after seeing "zombieland" and foodall's thread about our possible ufo/reptilian over lords/realion/alien invaders.
when the great day of reckoning comes, whether it be from ufo alien invaders, realian reptilian over lords, demons in human-hybrid form, or just plain old virus-infected zombies, what will you be carrying to defend yourself from the hostile forces of e-vile?
please, no one say a "bible" or i'm going to just laugh my ass off.

for all of our UK or Aussie brothers I'll openly admit that I feel your pain at not being able to have the appropriate firepower in which to turn an invading armies head into a canoe.
But they have baseball bats, don't they? Or hockey sticks.
