I don't think JWs consider the practice of putting flowers on the grave of a deceased loved one wrong. My mother did that for years about once a month after my grandfather passed away. It's just a way of remembering their life and acknowledging to yourself that you loved them and cared for them.

by Scott77 in"... deporting the millions of illegal aliens in the united states will cost trillions and will make this country bankrupt; the beginning of slippery slope that eventually will destroy our country the working immigrants is part of the backbone of our country and they have always been and will always be.. i guess, you are blind to the myriad of studies concluding that immigrants benefits our culture and economy.
a study was released by the center for american progress (cap) that establishes that the enforcement-only approach these restrictionist groups ad-nauseam advocate isnt sustainable in the long-term.
the study estimates that a strategy aimed at deporting the nations population of illegal immigrants would cost the government approximately $285 billion over five years.

Question for anyone that might know:
Scenario: You are a businessman/woman investing and building in commercial ventures. For some of your projects, you hire a legitimate contractor who, in turn, sub-contracts part of the construction to "Jose Gutierez Builders" (fictional name). Jose is also legit, either by being a citizen or having his green card. But, Jose has lots of contacts in Mexico and around town among the illegals. He hires them to supplement his legitimate on-the-books employees, but pays the illegals under the table. Who should be responsible....you, the investor and commercial builder, or your legitimate contractor, or the sub-contractor?

SPAWN
by White Dove inwhat would you do if your 19 year old son announced to everyone on his fb list that he was engaged to be married, and this is the first you ever heard of it?.
how about if that same spawn told his fiance, who you've never met or talked to, that his whole family is dead and that you are not his real mother (or father)?
also, what if she told you through pms on fb one by one what he was claiming, and you explained each one in detail, and she didn't believe you?.

I thought I was showing sympathy. Sorry if I didn't come across that way. She asked what we would do. I told her where I thought she should start. We don't have a lot of details to go by, so maybe we're having to read between the lines a little.

What is he claiming that you are explaining or denying to the girlfriend? Those things are evidently the biggie creating his "hate".
Why is the fiancee choosing not to believe you? That's where I would start.

You call your son SPAWN? Wish I had some magic words to help you, but it sounds to me like there's some deep issues going on here. Maybe a good family counselor could help you both. Good luck.

CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.
by miseryloveselders ini have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.
most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.
it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.

The screws must have really been tight, 'cause my sis is auxiliary pioneering in April. As far as I can remember, she has never done that because she has a long-time busy career. But both she and her elder hubby who is not in the best of health are signing up for the "wonderful privilege".

Couldn't get through it. The brother cleaning the toilet in a shirt and tie was just too much. (Plus...no offense....but I don't like the expresion "gayest thing". I'm trying to teach the children in my life that's demeaning to a segment of people and like the word "retard" is unacceptable in my presense.)

What Do You Miss About Being An Active JW?

I used to miss the showers. Someone was always getting married or having a baby and it was one of the few times we sisters could all get totally silly and let our hair down. Someone would always give a gag gift and we actually talked about things other than WT stuff. You felt like you were a part of The Sistahood.

I miss the subtle stares when you walk into a meeting with a skirt that's just a little too short (not too much, just a little) and you've got a hot new pair of Jimmy Choos on. Priceless! Where else can you get that kind of reaction?!
