WT + Awake Update - restrictions

I think this is it in a nutshell. It will keep them coming at least till January 2008 just so they can be assured of getting their Kool-aid copy and then after that, they will continue coming to the meetings so they won't get "cut off."

It's a ploy to keep meeting attendance up. They all live in fear that some important "revelation" is going to happen and they're going to miss out somehow.

I also very much think the WT society is going to start pushing the $$$ issue. There will be more discussion about how to include the WTS in your financial planning. More will be discussed about giving generously.

I think there will be a fanantical push to avoid the internet. We all know the reasons behind that! That sort of admonition would not play well in a "for the public" issue.

I also think more psychological manipulation and mind control methods will begin to be used. This is my personal opinion based on the fact that intelligent better educated people are harder to control mentally and the society is going to have to implement stronger methods to do so. Included in this will be discouraging higher education. This wouldn't go over well in a public issue either.

Warlock.....you are right on with that last statement.

I'll probably be ignored as usual, but I'm going to say it anyway. IMO if you've posted on this board long enough and read others posts enough, you should get a little bit of an idea as to their personality. If you know someone is a big blowhard full of his own idea of him/herself, brace yourself and just be prepared to be overlooked or insulted and let it flow off like water on a duck's back. If you know someone tends to be a bit on the sensitive side and take things personally, take this into consideration when responding.

It's just basic respect. The "faceless" aspect of board conversations sometimes makes people forget individual personalities are involved. I know in real life when dealing with friends or family members, I try to remember how they take things. Some have a great sense of humor and others are serious and just don't "get" satire or friendly teasing.

All I'm saying is take the time to get to know people by actually taking the time to read what they post and how they post.

As I began to slip further onto the side of evolution after leaving the JWs, something kept telling me that creationism and evolution could be reconciled.

I read a book, "The Science of God" by Gerald L. Schroeder. He's a physicist and a biblical scholar....go figure! With his strong scientific background, he takes the biblical account of creation and explains it scientifically.

If you are a staunch creationist with a new earth mindset, you won't accept it. I'm afraid you're just stuck on the flat earth. But for anyone who still believes in an intelligent creator and needs a good book to help reconcile the seeming contradictions, you will find this book extremely helpful. I did.

It's been a long time since I lived down there but I do remember they called me "Sha" (that's with a short "a") after they got to know me. And instead of saying something like Brother Hebert (pronounced A-Bear) they said Brudda Hebert. I really loved the people.

Watchtower deliberately lying?

i remember a topic a couple months ago, something about whether the gb actually believed in what they taught.

other topics have been similar lately, and today i noticed the topic about google 'proving' that the wts deliberately lies.

but is it deliberate?

When they come back in the resurrection they don't own houses or apartments. The survivors of Armageddon will have to prepare houses or apartments for them. Well, there will be a lot of construction going on. Well, right now it seems we arepreparing for this...the Kingdom Hall construction in all the world. We are building about 3,000 Kingdom Halls every year. And we're doing it faster and faster, the brothers get more and more skilled. Well, the worldwide Kingdom Hall construction may well be a good training now for the future construction work for the resurrected ones.

We do expect though, based on the Bible text, that faithful patriarchs and prophets will come back early in the new world. And, perhaps they will be put in positions of oversight to organize the work.

I guess they should have held on to Beth-Sarim, uh? And if it comes out that they own huge caches of real estate, you know...mansions, apartment complexes, condominiums, resort hotels, etc. etc. they can always say they were just preparing ahead. And if their families and cronies are occupying them or using them recreationally even now as we speak, well, that's just because they're holding them till the patriarchs and prophets and other resurrected ones need them.

But you could ask the WTB&TS board of directors....oh wait...we don't know who they are.

Well, you could ask the financial advisors and planners that handle the money you send to them....oh wait...we don't know who they are either.

Maybe it will be explained in the financials next year...oh wait....they don't send those out, do they?....ummm

Well said, John Doe. I pretty much agree. It's the seeking of answers that moves the human race forward. But, remember, what we thought we knew for certain in the past scientifically speaking, later turned out to be dead wrong or half wrong, or partially wrong. So we continue even when we think we have the "real" answer. We don't close the door all the way. We leave it open just in case.

(IP-SEC: Thanks, I think. But, maybe you were being sarcastic because no one can "understand" reality better than any other.)

My point is: We don't know and it's dangerous IMO to belittle either side, those who believe in a creator and those who don't. Reality is a very difficult concept to me. There are dimensions we can't (at this time) "see".

Kind of like the corporate world (for lack of a better example right now). Take for instance, the WTB&TS. Something is going on behind the scenes driving the rank and file to blindly accept what the GB spouts, and the publishers robotically go about doing the business of the organization. The r&f see what they want to see, namely, God's FDS dispensing spiritual food in due season and lovingly shepherding the flock. We "know" that's not reality! We "know" something else is moving behind the scenes. That's the reality. But to Joe Blow Publisher, his reality is only what he is experiencing in his daily JW endeavors and he vociferously embraces it and spouts it to anybody that will hear it.

Aren't we all trying to help one another to see reality

But be careful, Nvr.

Reality may not be just what you think you think. If there is a spiritual dimension that is unknowable to our pea-brains, those who think their brains are who they are, may be missing out on a spiritual evolution and miss it. They may be the ones going the way of the "dinosaur."

I see God/Creator and Man/Earth more like Space and Matter. The "primitive" way of looking at God may be passe, but don't throw the baby out with the bath just because you don't "see".
