  How does anyone know matter didn't always exist?

  a few days ago i was told matter didn't always exist.. i was told this by several persons who spoke with much certainty.. they said matter came from a singularity.. this as you know raises more questions than it answers.. have they any proof that singularities even exist?.

  how come people state things as a fact, that they have no solid proof for, and expect others to just beleive them.. and if you don't accept their beleif, you are said, not to be intelligent.. isn't that a case of attacking the straw man?.

  instead of the argument?.

  Here's a (probably stupid) thought: doesn't the existence of the present proves that matter has not always existed?

  For matter to have always existed, historical time must be infinite. This means that the current present moment is an infinite amount of time in the future from a point sometime in the infinite past.

  Infinity cannot be reached however, by definition. Therefore it would be impossible for time to progress to the present moment, since we are located at a point in infinity on the path of time. In the same way, we will never reach an infinite future.

  Since we are here, in the present, which has obviously been reached, the past is therefore finite. Which means matter cannot have an infinite history.

  Alternatively, time is infinite, and anyone you meet is a product of your own deranged imagination.

  Next week: the Douglas Adams proof that the population of the universe is zero.

  moxy raised a point in the "exaggeration" thread that aggravated me at the meetings.

  mispronunciations.

  moxy mentioned the word 'hyperbole' as frequently being mispronounced.. another one that bugged me was 'epitome'.

  WTBTS Pictures of Paradise

  as has been discussed elsewhere in this forum, the wtbts has published many images depicting life after armageddon and the elements and presentation are fairly similar from picture to picture.

  the text referencing a paradise picture almost always at one point refers to the restoration of the conditions of the garden of eden prior to the fall.. but what about the things which are never included in the drawings?.

  1. never any couples from different ethnic backgrounds.. 2. never any persons whose clothes obviously do not match their ethnicity.. 3. never any printed material like books, magazines, or newspapers.

  Hamsters have been rodenta non-grata since the embarrassing incident with Charles Taze Russell's beard and a horny orange fellow in 1895.

  Hamsters will not survive Armageddon, and anyone who keeps one as a pet is spritually weak and should speak to the elders. Arrangements can be made to correct matters at the next congregation bbq.

  i was given this book by a psychiatrist 30 years ago.

  the thought behind the book was that jesus would not have stayed single and they gave the reasons why.

  now that i am looking for more insight into religion, i would like to have the book again.

  Anyone Remember The Chaperone Thing?

  back when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.

  round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.

  folks, i am talking about chaperoning!

  I was going to ask if it would be a good idea to e-mail Mr. Bates providing further information on the points in the email he received.

  Having read the thing, I see that it is not necessary. The writer damages the WT's image more than former witnesses can.

  my currently devout jw sis told me how "proud" she was of the bro's at the wtc and how they fed , and comforted all those ppl...this told at the meetings i suppose.

  or was this just spin?

  i think i read (was it here) that the doors of hq got locked up so outsiders could not come in..... did they really get involved" or was it enuff to make them look good?.
