Hey Rizzie! Sorry to hear about your knotting stomach. This campaign has been on my mind too. I think you have the right idea about not answering your door. Screen your phone too.

If you happen to see them on the street, just don't talk to them. Walk right on by (maybe walk like a catwalk model, for fun). Remember, anything you say to them that isn't abject acceptance of their self-perceived authority can be used against you. So don't say anything!

The fact is, Jesus Himself is a figure of history.

So was Mohammed. So was Joseph Smith. So was Siddartha Gautama. So was Akhenaten. A persons existence says nothing about the accuracy of their religious beliefs.

Underlying assumption: claiming to be God in human flesh is a valid determinator for the "true" religion. First the underlying assumption must be demonstrated to be valid. Only then can particular cases be gauged using the assumption.

Jesus is not the only religious leader to have claimed to be God (or a God) in human flesh.

this is not an empty claim because it is supported by Christs historically verifiable resurrection from the dead

In all of its history, Christianity (or any other religion you care to name) has failed to solve any of the problems of mankind.

Athiests and Christmas?

i was just thinking.

since christmas is about the birth of christ, i know dec 25 was not his birthday, probly born around late sept or early oct. i guess he wanted to be born right before the baseball playoffs and world series, just kidding.

it was the early christian church that appointed dec 25th.

That is when the church did Christmas the intention was to remove all the pagan worship and its meaning, and its meaning is the key. Just because they had some of the pagan toys of the winter solstice does not mean they used them for the intention of pagan celebration.

So, despite the Christians adopting a pagan religious day with its trappings, it is meaning that is the key.

So, what's good for the Christians should be good for everyone else. If atheists engage in Christmas, it is meaning that is the key. Just because they have some of the Christian toys of Christmas does not mean they use them for the intention of Christian celebration.

If you remove the Christian worship and its meaning from Christmas, your participation has no relevance to Christianity.

Or is there yet another double standard to be applied here?
