  the whole discussion on "america" made me wonder the above.. by the way the war of 1812 wasn't against canadians but against the brits and won by americans after the battle of new orleans--which inspired one of the funniest lines in folk music, penned by jimmy driftwood and sung by the great johnny horton:.

  ..."we fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.. so we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.. we filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind.

  and when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.".

  You might wish to look up the relative dates of the Treaty of Ghent and the Battle of New Orleans.

  I'm sorry to hear about the despicable tactics of your JW relatives. What they did was disgraceful and you have every right to feel angry and upset.

  Please consider the level of any future contact you allow between these people and your child. You see, this was a planned move on their part. It was a deliberate action behind your back to exclude you while trying to ingratiate themselves into your daughters affections. They wish her to start thinking that JW's are fun people to be around and that there must be something wrong with you for you to not be included. You may find that this is the beginning of a campaign to try and suck your daughter into the cult by dividing her affections. This is how the cult works on children: confuse and hurt, then take advantage.

  Please be very careful. Do you really want people who demonstrate this utter hatred for familial relationships to have any influence in your daughter's life?

  I have an entirely unsupported opinion that the founding fathers (a.k.a. "those traitorous swine" according to my old history teacher) of the United States of America fully intended the entire continent to come under their political sway, and if it hadn't been for the ass-kicking of 1812, they probably would have got their wish.
