in our pre witless days we didn't go to church at all.
but my mom used her own homespun wisdom to comfort us.
one time my pet rabbit died.
I think the thing about the spear through the genitals made we wonder.

i now have enough recipes to start putting this cookbook together.
129 recipes.
since we will be putting this on the internet with the hopes that other people besides us will buy it what do we want to say.
Hi Lee:
Will the book be entirely recipes, or will there be some sort of "interludes" between them that maybe give more information on the Watchtower, or a Watchtower survivor's story, perhaps?

who composed the songs in the song book "sing praises to jehovah", and who decides what song is suitable or not?
the song book is almost 20 years old, and i wonder if they will come out with a new song book?.
although a few songs are nice, i find that most of them are dull.
Quite a few of the relatively rare catchy bars were composed by Schubert, Elgar and Strauss. Then they wrapped three minutes of muzak around them and congratulated themselves on creating pure and uplifting spiritual music.
Now, if Jehovah really existed, can you imagine? 80,000 congregations playing 6 Kingdumb Melodies a week, and he has to listen to them all! No wonder he's always in a crabby mood.

Hi Gcc2k:
If you don't mind I'll cut and paste from a post above on the questions you asked.
The Trust has existed since at least 1998, as I have the return for that year. I also have the 2001 return, so I've just taken a look at it. There are no holdings of Philip Morris on the 2001 return. This means that those shares were purchased sometime between May 1, 2001 and April 30, 2002. Consequently I don't think the Society can say "we didn't know what we were getting" as an excuse, because they didn't get any Philip Morris shares to start with.
There's been a variety of reaction to this subject. That's fair enough. Different subjects mean different things to different people. For myself, I think this stuff is pretty condemnatory of the WT, or I wouldn't have posted it. But I certainly don't expect a person to say "that's it, no more pioneering, I'm gonna become an apostate!" just because of this thread. I view it as one piece of a very large jigsaw puzzle, and maybe if a few people see this particular piece, it will interest them in looking at enough other pieces until they begin to discern the whole picture of the Watchtower.

yup, there's an aztec in my house: she's here.....drove all the way up from detroit yesterday.
she sure is good with directions, and called me from the very place i knew i could find her.
anyways, i won't say much, but she's alive and well....tired of course, but hung out where i work for awhile (the tavern/bar where i work), and then she went for something to eat, then walked around the streets of toronto.
It's a step up from "hey serf!"

I would just like to say that Rayzorblade* and iiz2cool** are APOSTATES who will shipwreck your faith upon the rocks of Sneaky Dees while disguising themselves as Angels of Burritos.
And Aztec has converted me to extreme left wing politics. From each according to their ability! To each according to their need! Garcon! Another beer!

my wife will not entertain the thought that the org is not directed by god.
even when presented with constant organizational flip flops she believes its gods direction.
and why not thats what she has been taught since childhood.. is ther anything that seems to work better in reasoning with women inparticular.
Hello Shotgun, and welcome to the board.
I would recommend that you read Scully's post and think about it a considerable amount. My wife is JW. I faded out about 3 years ago, and basically the approach she has outlined is the one I have followed, with some success (right down to the ballroom dancing thing..Scully you are in big trouble for enjoying that!).
Here are some of my thoughts on fading out from another thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/34518/1.ashx
One thing I think you have to remember: you want the freedom and responsibility to make your own religious choices without being coerced or pressured. If you want that for yourself, you must be prepared to give your wife the same thing. If she doesn't want to hear or read things that are negative of the Watchtower, then at the end of the day that is her choice. If you have to force, it is the wrong time.
