[the following is a little over 4 pages, but it is worth the read and it gets better as you get to the end.].

while i personally experienced several more acts where jw elders lied to me personally, the following is the most serious because it involved brother a. i mentioned him earlier where he was lied to by the jc and they used a confidential file against him that they developed over ten years a file he was never allowed to see or defend himself against.. sometime between january 1993, the jw elders on the jc were in the final stages of their meeting with brother a. this was before his first appeal.

Thanks for these threads. They show so clearly how ridiculous is the WT's claim that elders are appointed and guided by holy spirit.

Thanks also for a great phrase in a previous post: "Brill cream elders." That's one I'll be borrowing!

A question: when the elders decide that a person has disassociated themself, is there any difference in the announcement made to the cong from the platform, or is it the same patter?

I can only remember a few announcements, none of them clearly.

couldn't reply on original thread, so will try here.. the brits sometimes use a form of rhyming slang.

it's origins are with the cockneys i.e.

east-enders of london.. so 'apples and pears' means stairs.

Here's some additional gen on rhyming slang, so y'all don't get caught out:

Sometimes rhyming slang doesn't rhyme! That's because it's contracted. For instance, someone may say "I'm going to take a butchers at that car."

Butchers = Butchers hook = look.

So as well as knowing the rhyme, you have to know the phrase.

There. On your next visit to London, you can sound like a local!

i've always been a 'tomboy'--but c'mon--watch golf for 4 hours straight?

sorry dear but my mind is gonna wander.. some 'typical' girls things i don't do (never have) and don't teach my daughter to do: (let the reader beware--my personal foibles).

My pet theory is that all women like to think of themselves as "tomboys", coz it makes 'em feel tough 'n 'ard.

Most of 'em can't even go to the bathroom on their own, 'owever.

Expatbrit, running like hell....

p.s. the above theory has resulted in several severe beatings for yours truly.

that's the title of another poxy thread on witnesses online that has me scratching my head in disbelief that anyone could be so deluded.. i would love to be able to post a reply in the thread saying something like: "well, i guess none of you have any unbelieving relatives, then?"..

" and he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouth mason jar and set it on the table in fornt of him.. he also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar.

I know the point of the illustration. It's not the first time I've heard it.

You spew the regular religionist spiel: "here's what the important things in your life should be. Oh, you don't agree! Then what do you have to offer?"

Why the hell should I offer anything? Who appointed me to that position? Or you? Or anyone? What qualifies you? Where's your certificate with God's signature?

My reply to your post was entirely impersonal. You chose to take it as a personal attack. I did not "damn you". Nor am I obligated to give replacement guidance or direction to that which you offer. I wish to let people decide for themselves what the most important things in their lives are, not heap rocks on them. It is up to you to decide what is best for your own life.

I suspect the kind of people who would be drawn to the viewpoints given in reply to your post, are people who wish to be able to think and decide for themselves, not be dictated to or coerced with "what better stuff do you have to offer us, then" reasoning.

This is not a kingdom hall. We will not all sit and nod dreamily at falacious illustrations. Given the tone of your reply, that's the truth that is hurting, here.

If there is a God up there, then please save me from those who think they know what is best for me!

Language course for Aussie BBQ (Lesson 2)

as you all know, those of us who are in the confines of the penal colony of new south wales will be getting together for a bbq gettogether next sunday may 27th.

I Look Death in the Eye

i have always had trouble breathing.

in track i was great for a quick burst of speed in the 50 yard dash, but couldn't move enough air in and out to keep myself going for the longer runs like the 330. i had sleep apnea really bad, with the classic symptoms where i stopped breathing for a while and then suddenly snorted myself awake gasping for breath.

for most of my life, surgery wasn't an option due to my jw lifestyle and employment choices (cleaning business = no insurance).
