My mom converted when I was 5. We were catholic before that and whenever we would pass a church we would bless ourselves with the sign of the cross. I remember the first time I was told not to do that anymore because it wasn't God's house.

I also remember being told never to say 'God Bless You' when someone sneezes. I got a good yelling at and told how stupid I was when I asked if it was still OK to say thank you. I just thought it was polite to say GBY, just like saying thank you.

My dad never bought into the lie and the last Christmas tree we had stayed up until April the next year. There were hardly any pine needles left on it by the time it got taken out to the garbage.

as many of you may know, i'm currently an ms and pioneer, and been missing meetings consistently for almost 2 months.

i have been concerned about my dad's reaction to me wanting to leave the org and he's been questioning me about missing meetings.

well i've decided now not to jump through the elders' hoops anymore.

I know you love your father but it will truely be HIS loss if HE decides to shun you. Damn, how can people be so f*ckin blind?!? He has a good, kind, intelligent son and if HE would rather follow the directive from Brooklyn and shun you then that is HIS poor choice.

Dad is doing good..

first of all i want to say thanks to all those sending good thoughts/vibes and even prayers!.

my dad made it through 7 hours of surgery, he did loose quite a bit of blood but he's a tough old man and is hanging in there.

the stroke affected the left side of his body, the doctor thinks he will have some loss of function on his left side, but until he actually wakes up fully and goes thru therapy we really won't know.. i don't know if it's because i'm a nurse or if the nurses and doctors were tired of dealing with the jw's and my mom, but they gave the ok for me .

I was thinking about you over the holiday and I am glad to see your dad made it through the operation. Sounds like he's a fighter. Good. I can understand your JW family wanting to go to a meeting because that's just what they do but, sightseeing? You gotta be kidding me. Anyway say hi to the potential JWDers for me.

i have been dating a very committed jw - he spent some time out of the organisation after a divorce and about a year ago has been granted a fellowship again.

i absolutely adore him - and what is there not to love!

he is the most kind, sweet and lovable man i have ever met.

I find the timing of this post suspect. What are the chances that someone would reveal this plot on the same day an elder contacts me and asks me to post info w/regard to a BOE letter because he wants to protect his own identity.
