my wife and i talked about this over breakfast sunday. i am a non-conformists, but, would alter my personality to fit in with certain groups while i was in the org. it sickens me now, but, that pressure to conform is almost unbearable.

What others think about you while you're still in...
by Anony-Mouse inwhen you were in the religion, how important was it to you that you fit in with the crowd?
i've had an issue with a freind, and this is apparently the cause of the problem.
i also have a good idea of psychology.

Where do you go for your spiritual needs?
by Blindbutnowisee ini never was baptize as a jw.
i use to study with them for years, i even went as for as becoming a unbaptize publisher.
i gave up being a publisher because i did not feel genuine in my efforts to preach.

ask her well, if we can leave the past in the past, how come we can't celebrate holidays who's origins are meaningless now?

AURAS......
by freedomloverr inwithout elaborating at length, there has been a lot going on in my life of late and i have sought out some therapies that i have used in the past.
they've helped a lot.
they are more along the lines of *natural* therapies.

i'm wondering if, and please, no one jump on me, lol if maybe people that see "auras" maybe just really see physical light different than most. like, when your drunk or stoned and things trace, maybe you actually see light reflecting. just a thought, i admit i know nothing about this. just trying to be scientific.

in my opinion, you don't have to go anywhere. i have a personal relationship with god, and my church is walking in the woods, or watching a sunset
it's like that song:
me and jesus, got our own thing going
me and jesus, got it all worked out
me and jesus, got our own thing going
and we don't need anybody, to tell us what it's all about.

When will the JW's annual publisher growth rate finally hit zero?
by yaddayadda inabout 10 years ago i did a simple projection for when the organisation's annual publisher growth rate would hit zero.
the date i arrived at was 2009. my rough projection was based on the preceding 20 worldwide annual reports.
obviously my projection was wrong.

are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? You decide...
by under_believer inthere are no new thoughts in this post, but i felt like this topic was timely, what with it being convention time again, and with the anti-education rhetoric they've been spouting lately.. .
there are many definitions and lists of criteria for the concept of "cult.
" this is only one of them, so your mileage may vary.

lol, it's a list of 100, it can only be even numbers, unless you say, well, half a point there. lol
here's the ones i don't think they fit.
#36 although they have judicial commities, it's not a "confession session"
#41 although they are misled and power drunk, i don't think they are mentally ill. stupid and manipulative maybe.
#51 this ones iffy
#54 no front groups, everyone is expected to "share in the wonderful field service arrangement"
#56 there are those doing right, and "the other ones"
#65 i don't see any charisma in the governing body
#87 you don't really get to channel god, only the society does
#95 nah
#96 nah
#97 maybe after someone dies, but, not while alive
#99 they do associate with the outside world, albeit to get new members and are cautious
#100 will never happen. the gravy train is too good.

My 17 year old daughter has so many problems
by Jez inwell, my 17 year old has left home in a horribly negative way.
she has had many problems for many years.
she ran away a year ago, we dragged her home, took her to the hospital for bulimia and suicidal tendencies.
