by Gopher inon sunday in florida, a flash of lightning came out of the clear blue sky and injured a door-to-door book seller.. paul harvey, on his radio news program, said it was a jehovah's witness.

JW use of federal bennies and illegal immigration
by dontomas inhi folks.
some of the posts i saw here today put me in mind to ask this question.
it seems like jws more than most would be or could soon be dependent upon some form of government largesse (medicaid, social security, welfare, food stamps....) far beyond their own contribution to the till, as it were.

kwr, you want to tell all the out of work construction workers, or the ones busting their asses for less money we need all the illegals? i'd LOVE to get you in contact with some. i'm sure they and their families will have some words for you. and all the others that need government aid that can't get it because it's going to a multitude of places it shouldn't? i'm sure they'd agree too.

How Many People Here Have Been "Disciplined" By The Elders?
by minimus inby "discipline" i mean, either private, public reproof, disfellowshipping or something that got you in enough trouble that you had to be counseled by the loving shepherds and it cost you something by not having "privileges".

not me, i was a good little j.w., well, there was that time i was busted for stealing cars and running a chop shop, then, the time i tried to summon deamons to my elementary school, then the time my mom found my stash of porn, cigaretts, and weed, then the time i got a bunch of people to go to a mardi gras parade, but, other than that, no.

doesn't sound like a j.w. i think people may have added their 2 cents since he was selling books. anyone selling books door to door are automatically labeled a witness. raising money for his education sounds more like scientology or some other cult.

mrs. jones, maybe it's different here where drinking is a way of life, but, that's not so uncommon at that age. i used to be alot like that. he will outgrow it. and if he is like me, telling him it's bad and he shouldn't be doing it will make him want to do it more. this is an issue for close personal friends.

f*&k 'em if they can't take a joke. let me tell all of ya something. we all did stupid stuff as kids. we all do dumb stuff as adults. unless you know this person on a personal level, you have no right to bash him. i know when i was his age, if someone told me something was inappropriate, i'd do it even more. that word, inappropriate grates at my nerves. what's appropriate? if we all did what others found appropriate, we'd all still be in a cult. let the guy be a normal 18 year old. i was drunk almost every night at his age. now, if i have 2 beers a month that's alot. it'll get old quick.
