yes...and it SUCKED!!!
I had watched a few episodes of the series from England and found that one pretty damn funny..but the american version just blows...first of all...the first episode seemed verbatim from the first episode of the brit one....maybe it was the actors....it was just really, really bad acting..maybe the brit version is all bad acting too, and I cannot tell because of the accents hahah

Something tells me that if they hospital wins, and the little baby gets what is needed, the parents will secretly be so relieved...and then feel guilty about it for years....sigh

Damn straight I want the couple to know I gave something to them! After all, I came, ate their food, shared in their joy, and danced to their music! I want them to know I appreciate them asking me to share in their union....
ooops...oh that would just be for worldly weddings, were you can actually HAVE a good time

Several years ago I was going to college full time. I also was a single mom, so I needed to work...I took on a 7 day paper-route...drove at least 65 miles everday from 2 to 6 AM...not a lot of money, but I needed the daytime for school...and godforbid I miss any meetings. I must admit I really enjoyed them at the time.
Anywhoo...I requested a subscription to both the watchtower and awake so I could keep up with my mags while I was working since I was following behind. I actually had to REQUEST PERMISSION..I filled out the forms, and then an elder drilled me (politely of coursse) as to why I needed the mags on tape. Well, I got them, but since I was donating pretty generously, I was always a little annoyed at the fact that I had to justify why I wanted them.
Have any of you ever had this experience?
I was packing stuff for the move, and my mother pointed out I had left several of the tapes in her kitchen. She was not pleased when I said no thanks you can have them, and my concordance and my old mags...I just said that I had no use for anything that I could not read or listen to on cd or cd-rom...I brought up the story and of course she said...well, they have to make sure that they are giving to the right people..to witnesses. So I looked at her and said (with a serious expression heehe) "Hmmm...who knows what would happen if this information should fall in the wrong hands!" Yes, she knew I was being a smart ass....but I was a smart ass as a JW (although not about the religion then) so she is used to me.

soulless souls
by zen nudist inmany years ago --around 1984-6-- my youngest brother asked me why i would waste my time persuing a religion which only promised that a copy of me would inhabit paradise if i died now.. at the time the full impact of his question escaped me... .
years later in a spiritual time of crisis that question reared its head and bit me hard... it suddenly made sense.. jws teach that the soul is you, all of you, alive or dead.
there is no immortal soul for the jw, only an impersonal spirit which animates the body and like electricity is cut off and symbolically returns to god who gave it.

Wow....I have wondered about this too, but had been unable to describe it as you have.
The saying that Jehovah will recreate us....it always bothered me...that was one of the reasons I was determined to live through Armageddon...and besides the belief that those that had to be resurrected would not be allowed to marry...how cheap is that?
It reminds of that clone movie Arnold S was in...was it the 6th day? the scientist had cloned his dead wife several times...and the last clone pretty much said...hey I am not her..or something to that affect.
