  damn!! we weren't fortunate enough to have binoculars, but our conventions weren't that big i guess. most of the time i sat, looking around for people i knew. doodling was always a good time passer too, but had to be careful because mom was always keeping a close eye. we were never allowed to sit with anyone else--what a drag. joanna--how come we never knew each other then??!?! we could have had so much fun!! heehee

  Mom, Where Have You Been?

  OMG!!! are our mothers related??!?! my mother calls me occassionally to give me the rundown on the latest 'jw news' and happenings at the CA's and DC's. i don't know how many times i've heard her tell me that i'm going to die at armageddon. cripes!! i don't know why they can't see how everyone else leads normal, happy lives outside the org and it's the org that splits families and causes feuds! i hope your mother is more careful sentinel--i'm sure you worry about her alot.

  the WTS really sucks, doesn't it??!??! it's such an awkward situation for M's sister to put you in--how awful!!! too bad someone doesn't remind her about loving all people. i really hope you can be there to share in her special day. that's what really counts.

  not married and definitely a virgin no longer. however, i think i did 'hold out' until i was almost 23. it was my first serious, worldly boyfriend and he didn't want to rush me. even though that sounds kind of stupid, i think it's pretty sweet.

  Simple things in life.........(no boobies)

  i was just sitting here, reflecting on my day.

  the last month has basically been pretty crappy for me and a rollercoaster of emotions.

  i knew i was in bad shape when my landlord told me i could have absolutely no pets in my apartment.

  i was just sitting here, reflecting on my day. the last month has basically been pretty crappy for me and a rollercoaster of emotions. i knew i was in bad shape when my landlord told me i could have ABSOLUTELY NO PETS in my apartment. i cried the whole way across town. was sobbing walking in the door. looked at the answering machine.....1 message. a woman i worked with called to say that her son had a soccer game in my town and invited me to join her and her family. something so simple!! i think sometimes we forget that the truly simple, personal gestures towards people in our lives are sometimes the most valuable. the game was great and it was wonderful to spend some time in the fresh air with friends.

  i know this subject has been covered numerous times before, but the board constantly gets new people.. how many here still attend meetings, go in service, etc.

  i pretended for a long time. i think i realized even before i got baptized that this wasn't what i really wanted to do, but i felt so much pressure from my mom to 'strive for perfection.' i wasn't baptized until i was 18, but by then both my brother and sister had made their decisions not to pursue 'the truth.' all i ever heard from my mom was that i 'was the only hope' that her and my dad had of one of their children being faithful. along with her constant nagging that since i was 18 and old enough to drive, old enough to have a car, old enough to decide upon a career, i should be old enough to make the committment to get baptized. held out for a few years until i knew i could be financially independent--i still haven't asked my parents for money. i do rely on them for something though and my dad has been great. i moved about 100 miles away to a metropolitan area and just sort of faded away. however, i got 'busted' by a girl who was from my old congo and recently reinstated. i think that was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. i got to flat out tell my mother on the phone that i refused to be a hypocrite any longer. that was the best feeling ever. she still calls and gives me the rundown after the CA's and DC's, hoping i will 'turn around from my path to destruction.' i'm lucky though, my dad is a bit more sane and doesn't really push the issue. very glad to be free now.

  Hangover cure

  everybody has their own cure for a hangover.

  i was talking to a guy last week, and he suggested taking two advil and drinking a glass of milk as soon as you wake up.

  somebody else i talked to suggested drinking ginger ale.

  i find a big glass of water and 3-4 aspirin before bed will usually do me. if not, i keep prescription ibuprofen close by for the morning--those things work miracles!!!!
