okay.....now this thread is completely off any topic i have seen here before...but i am just in shock over an infection that my 9 year old son got w/in hours of swimming at an area lake.
my kids went swimming for about 4 hours yesterday and my middle boy, james, found a leech in his belly button on the ride home.
he didn't think anything of it and pulled it off.

what brings a smile to your face?
i cant help but smile when my wife laughs, or when my kids play outside.
i also smile when my boy, who is 15 wants to talk to me.
awwww......damn you scooter, now i'm gonna cry!!
seriously though......spending time with my sister always makes me smile--even when i'm in a foul mood, she makes me feel better. love my nieces and nephews too. there's something about unconditional love that you can't help but smile. being with my gramma, especially when she's giving you one of her 'sex talks', they're hilarious. always brings a smile to my face. great friends.

i was sitting in my swing looking at the clouds, trees, birds, etc, and thought, what if there was nothing at all everywhere, no god, no space, nothing material or any deminsion, just plain nothing.
no space, light, sound, universe, life, thought........ am i going nuts?

when it comes to being a house of worship, the pontiac silverdome has a long history.
it has served as a site of a papal mass by pope john paul ii, a crusade by evangelist billy .

if you remember, i've been inquiring about how to discuss jw issues with my boyfriend's sister.
it appears she is accepting the watchtower driven interpretations of the bible, but we are still not giving up.
if you are willing, would you respond, in a nutshell, to the question, "what is the doctrine or belief that the jw's hold that was most instrumental in leading you to abandon this religion?
kathy,
i guess mine would fall under social issues as well. first, my sister was df'd when i was 8--she was my best friend and immediately after that i was allowed to have absolutely no contact with her. i couldn't understand how my parents could say that they loved us and still treat her this way--i still don't understand it. i think it's a load of bullsh*t. even after she told them she was sorry and made positive changes in her life (but still not choosing reinstatement) that didn't matter. something is seriously wrong with that. secondly, i saw alot of hypocrisy in the organization. too much of this whole 'well it's ok for this person to do that, but not that person.' thirdly, i was tired of being taught that the only good people in this world are JW's. i remember constantly being told by my mother that if i left, no one would ever like me or love me for who i was. only JW's really look for 'the secret person of the heart.' that too was a crock of sh*t. i don't think friendships should be based on religion.

is it just me, or is alchohol consumption at parties and vacations virtually an unwrittten rule of jw-culture?.
when i was in, i did not drink, and i still don't.
i often felt almost ostracized for this by my jw associates.
hey xander--maybe it is a regional thing. i grew up in central MN. i remember very few weddings where there was neither a cash or open bar. at congregation gatherings there was no alcohol, but it flowed freely at private parties--if you knew the right ones to go to [ ;) ]

i'm kinda new and i was woundering what all these (i think they're positions or levels?
) different kinds of jw people are.
what'a a pioneer, elder, baptized, weak family, publisher, and any other titles people can come up with.
heehee, that's what i was thinking COMF.
