i totally agree with you crawdad, but isn't it funny that the people who are supposed to be your true friends turn their backs so quickly???

Most Embarrasing Witness Moment from Childhood
by Perfection Seeker inanyone on here have a "most embarrasing witness moment" from childhood?
mine is from 7th grade- that was 20 years ago- but i still cringe when i think of it.
almost too hard to write down- but maybe it will be therapeutic & part of the healing process?

Double Standards
by Perfection Seeker indid anyone else have witness parents who the congregation thought were the "model" family, yet behind closed doors all hell broke loose?
i remember a time when my family was choosen to do a part at an assembly about the ideal family- yet behind the scenes, we were beat, yelled at, sworn at, never studied, had a family from hell, yet others always commented how "perfect" and christian our family was.
being a witness leaves deep & permanent scars.

omg, are you sure we're not related perfection? even though all three of us kids have left 'the truth' my mom is still in denial that we were the model family!! she finally admitted only 1 month ago to hitting my sister and knocking her to the ground the night she decided to 'leave'. too bad you don't live closer--i think scooter and i could make you an honorary sister. ((hugs))

perfection--that's why i love this forum (and my sister). i think people who never grew up JW have no clue what it was like. they have no idea, can't even begin to fathom. my ex bf (still good friends) as supportive as he is/was, just doesn't understand what things were like for us growing up. nice to know there are such good friends here. ((((perfection))))

i don't know that i have any one specific memory, but years of bad memories nonetheless. trying to explain to my school friends in elementary school why i wasn't allowed to do anything outside of school. that's such a great way to make friends and build self-esteem, isn't it??!? also, every school program that required participation, sitting down on the risers while the holiday and patriotic songs were being sung. at graduation, not standing during the national anthem. being 'excused' and sent to the library to read because a movie that was being shown in class was deamed 'not appropriate' by my mother. ugh--this all just makes me shudder!!!

??? what would you change ???
by zev inif you had the power, and ability to change one thing in your life, be it a major life changing thing, or a small but significant thing, tell me what and how you would do it, and how it actually was, and how it would be different after the change.
please don't include jw'ism as that's something we would all want to change
if you tell me yours, i'll tell you mine

i know we're not supposed to bring the JW thing in, but that's about all i would change. i would make my parents not jw's. that way, our whole family (extended) could be a family. there would be no guilt about talking to someone or backbiting or fighting--UGH!! makes me sick. and if i wasn't allowed to change that, well then, i would wish that my grampa were still alive. i love him dearly, think of him often, and miss him everyday.

Will this work?
by SpiceItUp inok. i am thinking of trying this to maybe get my family to start questioning things.. here's what i want to do.
i want to get one of the ray franz books and casually leave it available for them to pick up.
my mother is not that bright to where she may think its something my dad brought home and open it up.
