Car Wars

today i had my jeep towed into the shop..i dreaded the ride in with the driver (im extremly shy).

but we ended up haveing a great conversation about what vehicle i should buy next.. what a perfect person to ask cuz of his job.

he said "dont get another jeep they roll too easy and they catch on fire.".

my family kinda has a thing for Fords. that's all i can remember having ever, either Ford or Mercury (same thing). we've never really had any problems with our vehicles, just kept up good maintanence. i've never had anything too flashy, but they've always been good to me. my first car was an 88 escort hatchback with a 5 speed. hell on wheels, beat the crap out of it and it came back for more. after that was a 92 mustang, also beat the crap outta the thing and it took it. for almost the last year now i've been driving a 95 contour V6 w/5 speed. this has been my favorite so far. plenty of room, enough power, great mileage and decked out. sporty in the 4 door sort of way.

as for what car turns me on.........muscle cars--old mustangs and camaros especially, big pickup trucks, and jeep wranglers. YUM!

My B/F told me he's a J/W after months of dating!

hi, i'm 17 and i've just recently become a member of this website and i want you to know what has happened to me over the past months.back in sep/oct 2001 i started chatting to a 20 year old bloke via the internet and we developed a great friendship over the net.we would talk online for ages,text and phone each other loads,we sent each other photos of ourselves and he would often put his webcam on for me to see.before i knew it he played a great part in my everyday life...and i spent so much time chatting to him that my college work suffered a lot & i wasn't doing my coursework (i eventually got told to leave as i hadn't done loads of the assignments and stuff & had fallen behind).

after about 6 months we arranged to meet up (i made sure my parents were at home coz i know it's dodgy to meet people from the internet).anyway,he came round my house one evening in march and we got along soo well...he lives quite locally too which was good.our friendship then grew into a relationship and we started dating and going out together,i was sooo happy and i fell for him in a massive way & he said he felt the same way too.to me,he was a girls dream come true...he was kind,caring,fit,good-looking & gentle and i loved him to bits!,i still do,and i thought we'd be together forever.

something that i did find a bit strange though was i hadn't met his family yet or heard my boyfriend talk much about them.i would question him about his family but he seemed to get a bit funny about it and when i mentioned about meeting his family he said something along the lines of ''they're a bit strange,you might not like them'' (or something like that anyway).that got me thinking and i though prehaps they lived in a run-down place or something,or they wern't very nice people and i thought my b/f could be ashamed to let me meet them.i thought to myself to give him time & he'll see that i'm an understanding & nice person and hoped that he would soon come out and tell me what the problem was (thinking it was about what i've just mentioned).

"some" apostate--not a bit condescending, are you? i think the whole point of what the majority of these responses, i can at least speak for myself: if you can't live up to the standards of your religion that you claim to be so devout to, what's the point? aren't you making yourself a hypocrite? i can tell you from experiences i've had with friends, if you marry someone out of 'the truth' it is not taken kindly to. you can kiss goodbye any kind of acceptance in the congregation and at the very least would be marked as 'bad association within the congregation.' perhaps you haven't had one, or several, of those talks in your congregation. a friend pointed out an interesting comment in a talk at a convention several years ago. the talk covered purposely marrying someone who is not a witness. the point was that, although it is not a disfellowshipping offense, marrying a non-believer directly goes against the instruction from the governing body and organization. do you really think you would be dealt with that kindly when the elders and congregation know you did something that is highly looked down upon??? i think not. perhaps if you took the opportunity to get to know 'some' apostates on this board you would see that we aren't evil. i'm sure you don't want to take that chance though, because obviously you know that can get you df'd.

i've had great fun meeting and making new friends online. when i moved to the twin cities, i made some new friends in a chat room and we decided to meet up--using common sense of course. only public places, etc. as far as a time frame, really depends on the person. in fact, my sister (df'd when i was 8) and i were reunited thanks to classmates.com. how strange is that?? all i can say is hooray for the power of the internet!!

just wanted you both to know that you were in our (scooter and i) thoughts last week. her computer was down and i filled her in on your post. we were so excited to hear about your plans for a big christmas. you are going to have such a blast. we finally got to celebrate our first christmas last year with all 3 of us kids together. something you will never forget. just wanted to let you know you're in our thoughts and that we're so happy to have friends and people who feel like family on this board. hugs to you and your family!!

hello, i am new to this site, and i am dating a jw.

however, my experience has been quite different from that of others doing the same thing.

unlike other posts that i have read, her parents (we are both 18) are supportive of her relationship with me, she is quite open minded when it comes to social activities, she has both jw and non-jw friends, and is a totally "normal" 18 year old girl.

yeah, i'm getting the vibe that things aren't all adding up here. you say the dad is an elder, the two kids are baptized, yet she is dating you who would be considered worldly and her younger brother is in a rock band with 3 other non-jws. this is algebraically impossible as an elder, her father is under the admonisher to 'preside over his household' in a fine manner, that's actually a requirement for a servant or an elder. certainly i would think the situations you are describing would cause him to be removed. very odd indeed......
