  Things That NEVER Made Sense To Me:

  even when i was a dyed in the wool jw, there were a few things that never made any sense whatsoever to me.

  like most dubs, i glossed over them, here's my top 3 doubts during my period of dubdom, doubts that were never resolved:.

  "all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial for teaching".

  Make sure of all things! But oh by the way you can only use the things we say are ok to make sure that we're telling the truth....huh?

  Death will be no more! <well except for the animals, and other various folk that we will discuss later>....huh?

  Jehovah is a God of love. Jehovah kills small children during the smiting of various assorted peoples in various assorted wars...huh?

  Gee, wonder why as a witness I walked around with a knot in the pit of my stomach all the time?

  Standing for flag/anthem prohibition; new light...

  in recent years we have seen wtbts "new light" that has eliminated the prohibitions on alternative service, voting, and (perhaps) carrying certain types of identity cards.. given that the practices of standing for the national flag or standing during the playing of the national anthem have been condemned in print in the same paragraphs as the above mentioned new light, isn't it about time that standing for the flag/anthem will become a conscience matter?.

  i would hope so, because not standing for these occasions is more than a little embarrassing for younger people still in school.

  standing is merely a sign of respect and honor, and this is clearly allowed by scripture.

  When I think back on school and the pledge, I can honestly say now that I know the pledge as well as all those kids who stood or put their hands on their chests. It's so ridiculous to single a child out for extra ridicule from their peers on such on such a point. As if a child even understands or cares about nationalism. As I stated earlier, if they (Jehovah's Witnesses) want their children to be completely seperate, give the kids earplugs to so he or she won't hear the dreaded dangerous PLEDGE! Cause I sure the heck had that sucker memorized and it didn't matter a flying fig where the sam hill my hand was or where my fanny was planted THe dang pharisee's anyway! <Indignation abounding!!!> lol

  Even though I let my subscription run out I think I may resubscribe, just because I am finding it COMPLETELY fascinating to now read the societies publications through Opened_Eyes One case in point is the song book! I have just been dumbfounded as of late when I hear the words to these songs, and wonder how these lyrics never bothered me before! Take this line from one song for example: Do we have a faith, accompanied by works <This of course means field service in the eyes of the society> This kind of faith preserves our souls alive! Translation: If you don't go out in service you will die at armaggedon. Truly sickening. And when I was still going to the meetings I NEVER thought twice about how horrible that sounded. SICK!!!!

  i was reading through some of you guys old postings and i was laughing so hard.

  some of you guys still believe the strange things your mom and dad said but didnt explain like not eating count chocula cereal.

  didnt ever occur to you that maybe your parents thought that keeping you away from something as simple as a cartoon dracula might be in your best interests?
