with logical's post in mind, i want to start a thread about something positive.
the wt are positively good at controlling their followers.. which is your favourite wt control technique, and why??????????.
the best contibution wins six million devoted worshippers and a 40 year conditional canonisation in the pages of the wt.. the one i like is so good because it works from 'on high' as well as among the orphans and widows at the congregation.
One of the most maddening techniques the WTBTS employs is their use of implication. They many times IMPLY things, knowing full well that the r&f are going to take it as set in stone, then when their *reasoning* changes, or their dates don't come to pass with the desired happening, they will say "Some in the past may have been over anxious..etc etc etc" Making it sound like the r&f's fault for jumping the gun, and they never said any such thing. INFURIATING!!! THe more I read of Crisis of Conscience the madder I get.

i'm new so i just saw last week's thread from rr on jw songs.
if you all have already covered this, forgive me, but do you remember when we switched to the new song book years back?
i tried so hard not to laugh with everyone trying to get the new songs down.
I remember :) actually even when I still was going to the hall regularly about 5 years ago they still hadn't gotten them down yet!
<including myself> So funny. And most of those notes were way beyond my reach so often I'd find myself doing the lip-synch version of many a song. hehehe

how many of you guys who have been out of the org.
for a while, now celebrate the holidays?
lol, so funny almost every JW I know including my family always had turkey dinner with all the fixin's on or around Thanksgiving yum!
My mom use to feel bad that we didn't get christmas too, so every so often she would just go out and buy us a bunch of presents and wrap em up and it would be like christmas without the tree and decorations.

Hi all,
I know this has probably been covered a bunch...but here I go anyway lol. How many of you guys who have been out of the org. for a while, now celebrate the holidays? If not why? I'm not sure what I will do yet but I would like to at least let the kids have their birthdays. I don't know what pagan origins are behind birthdays, but for me my boys are a miracle and would love to be able to celebrate the day they were brought into the world...to me it's as joyous an occasion, more actually than the day of my wedding.
Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences

happy monday!.
had no price tag.
much to her embarrassment the cashier got on the intercom and boomed out for the entire store to hear: "price check on lane thirteen, tampax, supersize.
As a congregation sat listening to the preacher give his sermon, Satan suddenly appeared in all his evilness. The preacher and the congregation all bolted for the door screaming in fear, all except for one elderly gentleman who stayed where he was, looking frankly rather bored. Satan of course was rather dismayed at the mans lack of fear and said to him "I am Satan! Beezelbub! Lord of Darkness! King of evil! Do you not fear me?! The old man looked at him and said...."Why should I be? I've been married to your sister for 50 years"
An oldy but a goody

last weekend i was enjoying a sarah mclachlan marathon, this weekend it was kenny wayne shepherd and any other blues/rock i could locate.. while indulging in the music that i love, i started thinking about the "gold old jw days", and i remembered listening to the rite of spring by stravinsky, as well as many other classical works when i was younger.. i was transported to a magical, mythical place, and i would frequently put together my own dance routines to accompany the music (since i wasn't allowed to go to dance class).
then came the "warnings" from brooklyn about the pagan themes surrounding many classical works.
the rite of spring was specifically mentioned as one that could turn the good jw into a foaming, demon-inhabited monster.. destroyers of dreams, creators of the mundane--how could i have allowed them to strip my life of all the beautiful things?
May I just say you all have awesome taste in music You guys have listed some of my faves. Mozart, Sara Hickman, Sara Mclachlan, Tim and Mollie O'Brien, The Dixie Chicks, too many to name! And I love the blues too. Saw A great austin city limits last night, had Kenny Wayne Shepherd and JOhnny Lang, along with a woman <can't recall her name darn it> and Stevie Ray's band. If you guys like blues you HAVE to check out Ian moore. He is really cool. here's a link to one of his favorite songs of mine. It's called Four Winds here's the URL:
then click on the four winds hotlink

people are stupid.
sometimes that is the only way to describe how certain things can happen.
especially is this so when panic, stress or hormones kick in which often serves only dilutes whatever common sense is left remaining.. a couple of examples:.

I got one!
millions of people believe that a small group of guys in Brooklyn are in direct contact with Gods holy spirit and we have to listen to what they say! how's that for silly?
A real knee slapper, eh?
