you know i have been registered here since the birth of this list.i was only a lurker from time to time, now after a recent love affair break up i have been active here.
i must say this is the most wonderful group of people i have ever seen on a db.

I read the article. I found the paragraph below particulary interesting.
A closed mind may indicate lack of knowledge. We may know so little about a subject, or have information so distorted or incomplete, that the facts necessary to reach proper conclusions are missing. For example, if you are living in Germany and are so sure that everyone from Berlin is a loudmouth, ask yourself just how many people from Berlin you know. Enough to judge several million people accurately? Perhaps more careful thought will lead you to the realization that you have met more loudmouths from Hamburg, Frankfurt or Munich than you ever have met from Berlin.

I know what you mean. I think that it would never *feel* quite right, after being told for so long that it was wrong. Having really no memory of celebrating the holidays <my mom started studying when I was 3> I don't know if I could ever feel really comfortable celebrating most of the holidays <I never say never though :)>. As much as that makes me mad <mad at being brain-washed/indoctrinated> I think that that's true. My boys who are five now haven't really indicated their desire to celebrate anything except for their birthdays. <I'm looking forward to letting them celebrate their birthdays this coming year>
I know during christmas, the only thing my one son was upset at was that everything was closed! lol He had wanted me to get him something at the store but they were all closed.

I know what you mean about the earthquakes thing...I do the same thing when I hear about a new one. It's like a knee jerk reaction after being indoctrinated for so many years. Hopefully this too is one of those things that will pass the longer we are away

the best contibution wins six million devoted worshippers and a 40 year conditional canonisation in the pages of the wt.. the one i like is so good because it works from 'on high' as well as among the orphans and widows at the congregation.

I know what you mean about the lack of joy! When I was a JW I felt NO joy in my heart. I was simply going through the motions. Hopefully one day your hubby will be able to break out of the guilt prison that the JWs put people into. Also the joy that you and the kids feel has GOT to be contagious I would think

That's great! Sounds like you had a wonderful time It must be a very liberating feeling. Bet you took lots of picture! <btw Liam is one of my all time favorite names> I have decided not to tell the school anything about the holidays I think. School is hard enough nowadays without singling the kids out for special treatment. I remember being in school as a JW kid and getting sent to the library for every party they had. How embarrassing! Don't want my two to have to go through that.
