Hellen Keller On The Bible

there is much in the bible against which every instinct of my being rebels, so much that i regret the necessity which has compelled me to read it through from beginning to end.

i do not think that the knowledge which i have gained of its history and sources compensates me for the unpleasant details it has forced upon my attention.

I knew I always liked Miss Keller! She was a brilliant woman whom I have great admiration for. I have read her autobiography several times but have never heard of the that quote. I love it. Thanks for posting it Jim

Art School JWs?

some years back i went to art school for a year, and life drawing was one of the subjects.

although the prospect of perving on naked women was at first appealing, it soon became evident that sex-drive is a left-brain function while drawing is strictly right-brain.

iow, drawing naked people was just plain hard work, and it was the only thing that was hard!

I posed for a few of those classes as a baptized jdub. My MIL knew about it as did some others and no big deal was made about it. There is no figuring JWs out! As my mom says..."It's enough to make a mare bite her colt!"

i have noticed several times when you refer to americans you use the phrase 'merkins'.

now as far as slurs go that one is pretty lame, really i have lived here all my life (32 years) and i have never heard any american talk like that.

My Story, Finally..... Feels so "Good"

i am a survivor:.

i was born in one of the largest cities in the us, lived there for the first few years of my life, during that time i was molested twice, once atthe age of 3 and again at the age of 4, the second .

time being a group thing.

We are so glad to have you here with us! Your perserverence through all you have been through is really inspiring. You Sound like you have been through some really hard times in your life. I hope things from now on will only get better for you. You deserve it! This forum is a wonderful place with a lot of caring people who know just what you are going through with regards to the Jehovah's Witnesses. Please, please try not to let the guilt that the JWs have ingrained in us for so long win!! We are not wrong...honest It's the *organization* that is. Hang in there Cas.

Hey Logical!

That is so bizarre I was just reading about that last night in "In search of christian freedom" And I was so shocked as was my husband. I had not realized that the questions had been changed to read that way. There is no way in hell I would have ever agreed to get baptized if the questions had read that way when I was baptized. Hey does that mean that they can't disfellowship me? <I was dunked in 83>

god i hated it..every living breathing minute of it.

it was pure hell for me, and based on the pace i see the jws all over the world moving, they aint so fond of it neither.

the persecution that the jws feel they get is from irritated householders who know nothing about their religion except that they hit people over the head with it and then judge them because they dont like being hit over the head with it.
