  i was talking to the hubby over the weekend.

  i mentioned the fact that so much of what witnesses do seems to be driven by guilt.

  he said "yes, that's because they have a conscience.

  Hey TW,

  I hope that one day I can really obtain that freedom of spirit! I am truly disillusioned with ALL religion. It seems like no matter WHAT name it calls itself, all it has done is caused wars, break up families <JW's haven't caused any wars that I know of, but boy have they done the latter on a vast scale> And cause dissention. And all this done in the name of God! I am taking a break from it all I think til I can see straight again But wild horses couldn't keep me away from this discussion forum though! Talk about refreshing...Let's hear it for freedom of speech! WOOHOOOOOOO!

  Hugs back! You guys are the best. Well I did hear back from that sister, I had used a different email that she didn't recognize right off, and she had company the whole week who had gotten sick, so that was why she didn't get back to me. She said I should never be afraid to tell her anything,and that she loves us, which I thought was nice but then at the end of the letter, her final sentence she added "So what kind of stuff have you been reading?" LOL

  Oh yes, I had a grand time.....Give me a break. I was crying and sick at heart the entire time I was writing. I don't think I have any intellectual prowess...far from it. I feel confused as hell. It wasn't rambling it was heartfelt...And wow! Boy after reading 2 scriptures all my problems are solved, thanks so much. And furthurmore, I don't do scientific study, I use common sense as far as defining the way A spirit creature must experience time. I am as far from an egotistical person as there is. That I believe, would be your department if you believe the entire universe can be explained in a few sentences from one book.

  PS: Sorry all of us can't be as hip and as up to date as you. With 2 small children I don't get a whole hell of a lot of time to keep up with the latest scientific journals.

  Aint that the truth! I told my hubby I'm going to become an "Imaginite" a religion totally based on John Lennons song "Imagine"

  my huband posed something to me yesterday that i had never even thought of before.

  he said, wouldn't it be possible that if a group <ie.

  jehovahs witnesses> fell out of gods favor, what would stop him from choosing another group?

  Indeed. I wouldn't call the feelings that are cultivated in the kingdom hall "A bible trained conscience" But more "the WTBTS interprets the bible this way, and so it must be right conscience"
  If they were indeed Gods inspired tools for delivering the good news, why are they so scared of open discussion? If they were indeed God true orginization, nothing could stop the way of the almighty Gods will being done.
  Tell hubby, moody that Guilt and conscience are two different things aren't they? Guilt is what is felt by being a member of The Orginization, because no matter how much you do in the congregation it's really never enough for them. Surely there is morsel of time that could be spent reading of re-reading one of the publications? Surley there must be some time that we could use to do informal witnessing. What? You are reading the RedBook that came in the mail today, and you haven't read The latest watchtower cover to cover first? TSK TSK TSK. JWs are walking guilt machines. God doesn't want his people to have to live like this! We are supposed to be happy and joyful. This is one of my major gripes with the orginization. Also, isn't A conscience what tells us deep in our hearts that somethings is just plain right or wrong <kind of like the feelings I get when I sit at a meeting...here's me looking around at the meeting....."ya know...there's something wrong here...can't quite place my finger on it...but it just feels...WRONG somehow"> NOW that's a conscience LOL..

  He said, Wouldn't it be possible that if a group <ie. Jehovahs Witnesses> Fell out of Gods favor, What would stop him from choosing another group? And he gave the example of the Israelites.
  And I said "hmmmmmmmmmmm. Even so...what would stop him?"
  And would the group who *thought* they had his favor even be aware, as this group would be <*is*> rather full of it's self, and it's self imposed importance.
  Kind of the "let he who thinks he is standing beware" thing.
  Does anyone know of any scriptures in the bible that would talk about this subject?

  Wow, Thanks so much all for your feedback. It's great to know that I'm not the only one who has these thoughts. Thinker, I shall defintitely read the book you mentioned. And Moody, I shall be most interested to hear your hubbies thoughts as well, as I STILL haven't heard anything from this neck of the woods. I agree, Ianano...I too don't believe in this game playing God...If he was truly merciful he would have done away with such a horrendous trouble maker to start with. Thanks too mommy, I finally am starting to have an inkling of what a real life might be like! and my husband is behind me 100% no matter what happens...he said as long as he never loses ME all will be right in the world. Just having *him* proves to me there is a loving God Thanks again all for all your help in my struggle through this. {{{{{{group hug!!!!}}}}}

  last night i stayed up all night, (not unusual for me though) and read the posts by ......well you know...the new kid on the block...who created so much fury.

  You are very welcome. I tried to explain some of my points to my mom today, and she did make sense on one thing for me...she said that Adam and Eve making mistakes would be different than we today making a mistake, as they were "perfect" whatever that might have entailed <And here's me thinking "yeah, but they are brand new creatures...kind of inexperienced and child like I would think? So don't they get even one break?">
  But then I said, so how does that make what we today suffer fair <for which she didn't really have an answer. Poor mom! This was stump mom day, and she didn't even know it was comin' LOL
