Quite a thought, huh? I was raised from birth as my family was in it 7 years before I was born ( 1952). I remember wanting to go out for school sports in high school as my P.E. teacher wanted me to play baseball as a freshman, but having to tell him, sorry my parents won't allow it, they have me occupied with other things. Then in elementary school having to lead the flag salute but keep my arms to my side, pretty humiliating stuff. Then not being able to pursue further education in spite of a high grade point average, but being told you should pioneer out of school or go to Bethel. I was never much into institution life, too independent, unlike my older brother who went to Bethel, so I decided to marry young at 19 because it was essentially the only "legal" way to have sex! Until I got out from the cult at age 43, for years I tried to live up to my Dad's "legacy" him being an elder since 1953, and my older brothers(ex-bethelite), older sister (ex missionary). I put a lot of pressure on myself to live up to an imagined standard to be "accepted" by my family as the "youngest" child. Finally after so many years of treading water, I had to get out. Saw the hypocrisy in Elders ways of dealing inhumanely with people and left. I've never been happier. I am now trying to help my son get through a university, which gives me a lot of satisfaction that the org. couldn't keep some of us down anyway! Here's to helping our children eventually see the light and escape the cult! I still have hope for my 2 young adult daughters 20 and 19 that they'll get out. Someday. How have the rest of you felt being raised in this? Wistful like me? About missed opportunities? Am I alone in this? Please share. Peace to you all, Mr. Flipper

Appealing a JC Decision
by Amber Rose ini had my jc about a month ago now and thanks to my dad i keep thinking "shoul i have appealed?
" has anyone ever heard of a decision being reversed because of an appeal?
do very many people appeal?
-
flipper
Amber Rose- Mr. Flipper here. A couple of months ago, a judicial commitees dfing actions against me were overturned by the appeal commitee, with assistance from Bethel. There was'nt enough evidence to convict me, and I had been disfellowshipped by the original commitee because I refused to come to an initial commitee meeting, having been falsely charged. But others takes on this are correct, it still wears you out from the inside out emotionally, my case was dragged out for 10 months. And even though my witness parents associate with me, I still have a super ex-bethel elder, an older brother who secretly thinks he's Ted Jaracz's closest confidential advisor. So he won't acknowledge me or a self righteous older sister (an ex missionary) also won't. So even a successful appeal won't change the minds of some who want to put you in a certain category. All you can do is show love to your family and be with those in your family who really appreciate you for your good qualities. Those that don't , well it's their loss. Good luck to you and Drew. Peace to you, Mr. Flipper

Use Catholic Abuse Settle to Attack JWs re:KN #37 & JW Abuse Cases
by Seeker4 ini was thinking earlier of how the recent mega-million dollar catholic settlement in la is an ideal opportunity, in letters to the editor in local newspapers, to highlight the hypocrisy of the witnesses in how they have handled similar abuse cases.
a couple of points that might be useful to make this applicable anywhere: .
1. in the kingdom news #37 tract distributed around the country last fall.

by Junction-Guy inmy great uncle found out last week that he has to have triple bypass surgery.

Dave, sorry to hear about this troubling situation. You must be so worried about your great uncle, then add in the family contention - yikes. The blood thing makes me so mad. Sometime in the next week or 2 my mother in law (mr flipper's mom) will be having back surgery - same deal, no blood. It's so scary. Wish you the best, your great uncle also. flipper

L.A. Catholic Archdiocese to Pay $660 million
by JK666 inl.a. archdiocese to pay $660m for abuse.
by gillian flaccus.
los angeles (ap) - the nation's largest catholic archdiocese has settled its abuse cases for $660 million, by far the largest payout in the church's sexual abuse scandal, the associated press has learned.

Boy, from these settlements in the Catholic church, I'm getting the strangest sense of dejavu, aren't you guys? What was it, two months ago the news broke of the witness molestation settlements? But Snakes, you're right the witnesses aren't a large enough church to make a splash on the big screen and front page news. I talked with Bill bowen about a month ago, and he said they are attempting to still get it bigger airplay. He told me Oprah wouldn't put it on because she has witness employees in positions of control. So I guess it's down to all of us individually doing what we can in our neck of the woods, bringing it to attention of relatives or flooding kindom halls with newsletters, etc. Last week I mailed out about 20 newsletters of the molestations to that many congregations body of elders with no return address. Told them it was from concerned citizens of their respective towns and advised them to read it to their members, as we have already been informing them. I know, they probably won't do anything, but it might keep em' thinkin'

Dating question
by jond incan anyone comment on the consequences of dating a divorced jw who is not free to remarry?
in time this person will be free to remarry, until that time is it ok just date?
obviously the dating would need to be done carefully so as to not lead to wrongdoing etc.
-
flipper
Jond- After I faded 4 years ago, my crazy wife (Substance abuser) left me and didn't want to get back together. I started dating another woman 3 months after she left me, risky for sure as at the time I didn't have evdence of adultery on her part. But a couple months later on the phone she admitted to me she had been seeing someone and had done the" dirty" deed. So my dad, an older elder, even though I had faded, told me to satisfy the elders from being nosy and get them off my back snooping, to write a letter to the body of elders saying my wife had confessed adultery to me and to please consider me scripturally free to remarry. It worked. The elders stopped harassing me and I moved on with my life as a fading , non attending ex witness. Try it. Get the goods on his or her ex mate. Get the goods meaning prove their unfaithfulness, and you just might have clear sailing for your relationship. It's worth a try if you really love this person. Worked for me. Peace to you, Mr. Flipper
