  Orangefatcat, Delilah and others thanks for your responses. Wow! There has been more response to this thread than my all time favorite singers/ music group threads! Good, I like that people like to laugh! Gawd knows we need it in this stressful society we live in. Keep on posting and this weekend I can't wait to add up everyone's votes and see which comedies were listed the most. I will post the results on Saturday, I'll have more time, off from work!   Your Opinion: What Do You Think Of Legally Going After Individual Elders?

  since the society has told the elders that they are basically on their own, why don't we give more thought to suing the elders-----not just the watchtower society?.

  when i was an elder ii was very concerned that i might get sued and be liable in a lawsuit.

  it was one of the reasons i didn't want to be an elder..

  This spring as I was going to a appeal committee meeting being brought up on false charges I also had submitted a preformed letter to the elders telling them if they dfed me on unsubstantiated false charges, I would sue them for defamation of character and slander. Apparently they sent this and a request to the society on what decision to make in my case as there was no real evidence of wrongdoing or witnesses of it. So after a months waiting, the chairman called me back and said the decision is not to disfellowship you. He didn't explain why, the elders never do, want to keep people in the dark on decisions they make or why they make them, however it made me glad I called their bluff and challenged the bastards. Now I can fade quietly and still talk to my 80 year old parents. How do you spell control? Peace out, Mr. Flipper

  Millie JW- You have a private e-mail from Mr. & Mrs. Flipper, please read. Hang in there! This is sad news for everybody, but especially those like you who were unprepared for it. Those of us a bit more jaded from the jehovah's witnesses coverup mode are not quite as shocked, however I definitely felt like slamming my fist in a wall when finding out this pervert in England molested a 18 month old baby!

  All I can say for Millie's sake and all of us who are outraged by this heinous crime is that as our poster Seeker 4 has recently said that many efforts are going into making this pedophilia problem more public to the mainstream media, hopefully through major network talk shows, with big name hosts whos ratings depend on lots of viewers. Thats what we need to get this problem more coverage and brought to the majority public. I'm glad that in England this story has made front page news. That's what is needed.

  Believe me, the cry of outrage is going up across America, now England. All we can do as concerned people is be proactive about it. Someone said, "Call Bethel in England" Hell yes, I agree. I'll call Bethel in United States tonight and rant and rave too. If enough people get outraged, then perhaps enough attention can be given this to help people get out of that damaging cult and protect many more children now and in the future. That is what is needed, can't lose focus of that, needs to be a prime objective. Why do ya think Barbara Anderson has tirelessly gone to this trouble to expose this garbage? And for the earlier poster who said, "this is an isolated incident", I can only assume you have been living on a different planet the last year or so as all of the Jehovah's Witnesses pedophile problems have been exposed. Perhaps it would be good to inform your stunted mind and learn compassion for others going through this, unless you would like to have done to you what was done to these poor victims who are defenseless children. Something for unintelligent people like you to consider, who are more concerned with the image of the "witnesses " than justice being done. Lets all hope this opens a Pandora's box of revealing the atrocities being committed in secret in this insane organization

  Patient Bro- So glad to hear you are using an open mind to think with. Glad the witnesses didn't succeed in shutting yours. I feel for you my friend, I was raised in it and at 44 , finally got out 4 years ago. I too have a lot of family in. That is why I have faded gradually, so as to still have contact with my parents 82 and 80 who are still in. Just remember , you are doing the right thing, proving it to yourself, all of us on this board had to do that. We are all here for you my friend if you need support or comforting words of help.   how would a jws radar go up if you were leaning toward questioning things or even showing information from the society's own publications that was damning toward them?

  At my " encouragement" meeting with the elders after finding out they overturned the dfing decision and I was good to go, the chairman elder asked me something, he asked," We were concerned about you being upset over the molestation settlements, and were worried you got that information from apostate literature." I said, " No, I got that from an associated press news release, what makes you think I got it from apostate literature? " He said, " The fact that you were bothered by the way it was handled or covered over by the gag order." I said, " Of course I was bothered by it, it's a travesty of justice these people were prohibited from speaking out about it." Then he said the clincher, " Well, you just have to have faith that Jehovah handled it the best way possible. That's where faith comes in." I just grumbled something unintelligible in response.

  So these days with their organizations a$$ on the frying pan these guys are looking for anything that they might suspect could be an "influence " on their members getting knowledge of the molestations or any speck of negativity towards decisions the org. makes. I still voiced my opinion and left them standing there with their mouths open, hoping I will never see them again. Let them stew in their own mire. They are paranoid these days

  My mom got disfellowshipped.

  my mom called tonight to tell me that she got disfellowshipped!!!!.

  of course to me this is like the greatest news ever and to her its the worst ever so i'm seriously having a hard time being sympathetic.

  i just know this could mean she's out for good and it definately means i've got my mom back.

  Renee- It is so good you can be a support to tour mom in her hour of need. And really, you hit it on the head, she needs you emotionally, and as a caring friend, but go easy on the reverse preaching for awhile until she gradually sees how screwed up the org. is. But you can help her with her doubts and be there for her. My older son 22, was and is my best friend aside from my wife, and was there for me when I went through this in the late 90's. Your mom will never forget your kindness, because she will get precious little from any of her former witness friends. It's a great opportunity to show her what real, unconditional love is.   How ethical is it to sow DOUBT in the minds of sincere Jehovah's Witnesses?

  we know that we can't always take the direct approach and we know that even a short, reasonable discussion is often out of the question with jw's we may love dearly so we often try to place a little doubt in their minds.

  we want them to start questioning cherished beliefs.. is this fair of us?

  are we placing our our own agendas ahead of their needs?

Tell me, how ethical is it that they are lied to by a child molesting, child murdering (no blood transfusions for children) cult, and allowed to wallow in the mire of the cults harmful beliefs?   nothing major happened, i have just noticed that she doesn't say she loves me anymore.

  i used to find it annoying.

  i always felt like she only said it to guilt me into having to say that i loved her.

  Kitten Whiskers- Mr. Flipper here. When I read your thread it really hit home. I was raised a witness, have been out 4 years. My parents have been in it for 55 years and even though I left the org. my 80 year old mom still says I love you, when we finish talking on the phone. But my dad, an elder was raised in the John Wayne world war 2 veteran style he-man generation never says that to me he being 82, me 48. Even though I'm a man it still hurts that he won't say the words. I've learned to accept it's a childhood thing he went through or something and try not to take it personal. My mom more than makes up for his lack of emotional skills.

  But , I can assure you this when I had kids, all now 22, 20 and 19, I promised myself I would always tell them I love them, no matter what. Kids need to hear the words, makes them feel so much better and you as a parent. Natural affection is so much lacking these days, our kids need that from us.   a little back story; i have been having a lot of debates with my mom about society stuff.

  anyways i directed her to the watchtower documents and the molestation charges.

  she then sent me an email here is what she wrote, the orginal email was just a link to the site and i said something to the effect of, jehovah makes public the records that were supposed to be hidden!

I'm so impressed how you are trying to help your mom reason on this, although as you can see she is so controlled in her thinking by the org. that reason is lost on her. But keep trying, ya never know! She did admit she didn't know what she would do if she knew what Barabara knew, however she is trying to bury her head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich, like saying," Don't confuse me with the facts, I know what I know because Jesus tells me so." It's like talking with someone who has radio static ringing in their ears, they won't listen. Good job though, keep trying, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
