  Are ex-jw's or "apostates" addicted to jw-bashing?

  this might seem like a funny question to ask but my mom told me that "apostates" are addicted to jw-bashing and cannot let it go and have a life.

  i asked her what she meant by this statement and she told me that all ex-jw's talk about is the wts and jw's and negative things about the jw's.

  she said that we get up thinking about jw-bashing and go to sleep thinking about jw-bashing just like a drug addict.

  On the other hand, are the JWs continually bashing the flock - Over meeting attendance, field service, blood etc?
  
  Additionally, many of the things that have been experienced here are happening again and again day after day. Although I am out, I still have enough contact through family and friends to know that many witnesses are having a hard time with abusive mates, mental and physical health problems - the list goes on - but receive little or no understanding and help from elders.
  
  As long as the WTBTS persist in their current dogma and manner, the will continue to be bashed.

  i am curious...what did you all do with your jw books and paraphanalia?

  i carted mine around for years and kept them in boxes.

  i was like afraid to do anything with them, even though i was sure i didn't want them.

  Attention Computer Geeks! Which training would you take?

  it is time for me to choose which training classes i want to take.

  this is a very new experience for me!

  i have been a contractor for a long time and i'm not used to my employer asking me what i would like to do... and have them pay for it!

  In my view the best architecture around is Java/J2EE three tier architure (so called MVC). Add to this other concepts such as persistence models (EJB or Hibernate), and it blows C#/.NET out of the water. .NET solutions are still very 'page centric' - you can't do anything without start from a page.
  
  
  However, this is a purist's view. Practically, many companies (other than large national/internations) are looking for Microsoft based solutions. So, if its simply a case of what is best for your career, .NET/C#/XML/XSLT are the things you should be learning.

  Are Dubs warned about JWD at Meetings?

  i havn't been to a meeting in years.

  i was just wondering if this site is talked about @ meetings, and/or in the publicatons.

  i'm sure reproof or disfellowshipping would be instant if a dub was found looking into such "apostacy".

  No websites are ever mentioned by name but the message is clear - stay away.

  In the main the advice is being heeded but I know many are curious to know exactly what it is they are supposed to stay away from. I cannot believe that a younger generation of very computer literate JWs will never stumble across sites like this.

  They are fighting a loosing battle.

  Note-Taking at Meetings: What's the Point?

  the last time i was at a meeting, i was struck by how many jws -- mostly women and pre-teenage kids were assiduously taking notes.

  i mean, what is the point?

  do they really believe the guy on the platform is saying anything that can't be found -- and reiterated -- dozens if not hundreds of times in their printed material?

  I have been in to mind maps for a long time.

  I used mind maps to record a mental picture of public talks - I was often surprised when I looked at them later - the talks had little structure or argument. With a good talk, I would almost be able to give the talk myself with little or no preparation.

  Is religion the real reason for many wars?

  a lot of posters on this board have expressed the opinion that religion is the reason for many wars.

  some have even implied that if religion was "banned" the number of wars would be reduced.

  Religion is one way to make people who usually would not think of murdering their neigobors follow the lead of those planning the war by de-humanizeing those being planned for the slaughter. Convince them that if the neighbor is not a believer that they are, evil, sinners, unworthy of life, have something that 'god' wants you to have because you are faithful, yada, yada, yada.

  I think JeannieBeanz has it here - shades of how the Holocaust was allowed to happen. Religion is only one way of dividing people into factions.

  Another is tribe/race. One of the most sickening episodes of the late 20th century ws the genocide in Rwanda carried out by so called Christians but purely tribal.

  Northern Ireland has been mentioned but that is tribal as much as religious. Yes, they are Catholics v Protestants but there is no valid religious arguement put forward.

  Like many here, I do worry about Islam though. The potential for violence seems ingrained in many of its followers.

  suppose the society "adjusted their thinking" on the matter of disfellowshipping.

  it occurs to me that df'ing is the bottom line when it comes to being obedient.

  The question is hypothetical. They wouldn't be changing any rules in the near future.

  The latest directive to the rank and file that I know of about disfellowshipping was in the Aug 02 KM. At the time my feeling was that it was a hardening of attitudes, perhaps the WTBTS thought the R&F were getting lax.

  i remember back 8 years ago when i left the organization the elders were being called "jehovah's special appointed ones".

  i thought to myself that this was starting to become a clergy class.

  i mean if that doesn't set you about the rest of the flock, i don't know what does.

  the genesis account of angels 'materialising' and having sex with women always worried me as a witness.

  in all animals, man included, the sex drive is hormonal.
