I think it is about time the world's only super-power had a woman as leader.
India, Pakistan and even the UK has had women leader's in the past. Surely, an intelligent woman US President cannot be any worse than George W.

National Geographic or Awake?
by eyeslice inwith the imminent demise of the awake, being 'simplified' to a monthly journal; which monthly journal would be your magazine of choice - national geographical or awake?
i read national geographic - it is well researched, it has fantastic photographs, and is printed on quality paper.
with all the resources available to the wtbts, why hasn't the awake gotten any better?

Undercover,
I keep National Geographic by the bedside for a little late night reading - not sure my wife would be too pleased if I replaced it with Playboy!

Hi Edge,
No - 'Un Chien Andalou'fan (surreal film in which an eye is sliced).
Eyeslice is a character in Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie - he had an eye accident as a kid and ends up with the nickname.

Me? I read National Geographic - it is well researched, it has fantastic photographs, and is printed on quality paper.

Why on earth does it it still have cheesy cartoons in the 'Watching the World' section?

WTS Official Spin on monthly Awake: 'More emphasis on the Bible!'
by Neo inthe march 2005 kingdom ministry brings up a full article about the awake only being published once a month, starting january 2006. .
but the fun thing is the roundabout way this change is announced.
knowing that the news would be a bitter pill to swallow (there should be a 'speeding up' of the preaching work, not a downsizing), the watchtower only announces the move to monthly publishing by the end of the article.

Another thought - have the WTBTS recently upgraded the printing presses to print 90,000 copies of the magazines per hour or something? So the reason for the reduction to once a month has got nothing to do with printing capacity. Perhaps they have just ran out of ideas for what to write?

I wonder if they have thought about the effect this move will have on that old barometer of how good the Rank and File are in field service; 'return visits'.
A sizeable majority of return visits are nothing more than a newspaper round - they get a call twice a month with the 'latest copies of the magazines'.
In the future, calling with the two magazines once a month will be fine but I think there will be little incentive to call with just the latest Watchtower.
Net effect; return visits will fall by at least 25%.

This a thread about God's love not fanatical Islam.
I guess the question here would be could God love terrorists?

Now, this may or may not be a good choice of religion for him. Also, it might be argued that even if he has 'found God', he should keep these beliefs private to himself. However, the questions is; 'can God love the unlovable?'
Perhaps there were things in his past that made him turn out this way.
Commenting on John 3:16, Bible commentator William Barclay says'
The unlovable and the unlovely, the lonely who have no one else to love them, those who love God and those who never think of him, those who rest in the love of God and those who spurn it - all are included in this vast inclusive love of God. As St Agustine had it: 'God loves each one of us as if there was only one of us to love.'
My view - yes God can and does. Having said that, this man should remain in jail for the rest of his life.

Are you still the nice polite witness person inside?
by prophecor inor have you shed that polyester portion of your personality?
might that personality trait truly been authentic?
was that really who you were, or a cover because we were required to be so civilized?
