oh ok did that then turn into the watchtower?
I think we are going off topic here. The history of the JWs is well documented on this site. What I am not sure about is this break away group.
sorry if this has been posted before but what do we know about the true faith jehovah's witnesses?
are they only in romania?
how do their numbers compare to actual jws?.

in the days before 'simplification', the days of 3 day circuit assemblies (fri evening plus sat & sun), when we used have catering departments that cooked and served up hot meals, we also used to have circuit orchestras.. i must say ours was pretty poor though, only matched by the lacklustre singing.. eyeslice.
(bee in his bonnet since mrs eyeslice went to singing practice at local kh on sunday evening).
I'd love to hear a rendition of "We're Jehovah's Witnesses" on the kazoo.
How about 'Lazarus Lay Sleeping' - that would be a hoot.

those horrible records
They were pretty bad.
And, I never really understood why we had orchestral recordings for assemblies and piano recordings for the KH - it wasn't that people were going to think that there was an actual orchestra at the assemblies.

Due to simplification it's now a kazoo.
lol. How about even more down market - paper and comb?
I remember the musicians being pretty pissed that they were not allowed to do it anymore.
Anything that smacks of having a good time has been banned by the kill-joys at the top.

Hi moski7 - I guess that is why I am asking
What I think I know is that they are a break away group from the standard JWs in Romainia. Apart from that I know nothing else.

All I know is that they seem to sing a whole lot better than the standard JWs.

even as a loyal jw i though thought our singing was pretty crap.
now, i sometimes catch a religious service on the radio and cannot help thinking how much better 'worldly' churches are in their approach to the use of music in their worship.
personally, if i were going to choose a religion based on music, i'd have to join a church with a gospel choir; i just love the warmth and enthusiasm of gospel music.. .
Not sure how good these new songs are. Mrs Eyeslice hasn't come home singing her little heart out.
with the upcoming disaster film "2012" and the current hype about mayan calendars and doomsday predictions, it seems like a good time to put such notions in context.
most prophets of doom come from a religious perspective, though the secular crowd has caused its share of scares as well.
one thing the doomsday scenarios tend to share in common: they don't come to pass.. .
It is interesting though how the JWs are/are not backing off any specifics regarding the time of the end. 1914 is still a core doctrine yet at the same time things like the 'generation' doctrine has changed beyond recognition. As an outsider now, I think that they are confused and non-commital about the end times.
how many elders are here?.
i dont know if this topic has been posted before.
but after realizing that i sort of resurrected an old post from outofthebox, i thought of starting a new one with the topic above.
I think that there are many like myself - former elders. What is also surprising is just how many years some us of served in the organization as 'appointed men' before we left. Personally, I served in various positions for just short of 30 years.
