Just to let you know

i've decided to cut my ties with jws.. i don't post here much as i've stated before, but you all don't realize how much i appreciate this forum and the support it gives..

Actually, I have been thinking about doing this for some time now. It has been and is going to be difficult because it has been a part of my life for the great majority of it. But, the thing is no matter how big or small a lie is, it is still a lie and JWs continue to swallow them down. It kills me that they say they have the truth, but they wouldn't know the truth if it walked up and smacked them in the face. I think knowing that one thing alone will help me continue in my journey away from it all.

my first week of posts here were very serious and all the wonderful, encouraging replies helped me very much.. so now i want to ask something semi-frivolous.

(actually it's one of the many things that don't make sense to me about "the truth").

This comment is a little off topic, but I'd just like to say that, although I don't post much, I do read this forum quite often. It amazes me how a lot of the things I read on here make sense!

I still need to do a lot of research on a few things. Now, I'll add to my list to look for information on the two (E) brothers and, yes, why did Moses tell the people to look at the copper snake AND, if everything that was created was considered "good"..., I could go on.

My eyes are truly opening and so is my mind!! Great question, by the way.

Another Young One Takes a Stand FOR Higher Education

a few weeks ago an elder from my old congregation stopped by (although a real company man, he is "a good cop" one) to invite me to the (anti)memorial.

frankly i was surprised to see an edler at my home .

have had some interesting confrontations with others on my porch .

I don't know who the witness adults think they're fooling - at least in my area.

They condemn the young people for going or wanting to go to college. However, when I have to take continuing education classes for work at some of the local college campuses, who do I see???? The same people; and sooner or later you hear "so-and-so graduated" or "so-and-so got their degree in whatever". Hypocrites. Then the other witnesses that shared in the condemnation feel stupid because they could have went to school too. Dummies.

as if the poor dubs did not know already that jesus approved of the wts in 1919 sheesh!!!!.

this magazine is relentless though - it pounds the 1918/19 dates over and over.

both study articles are promo pieces for the fds theoarchy.

I'm going to add my two cents.

I've learned quite a few things from this board and have begun to really examine things that are "taught". I too noticed the equation of them trying to make the elders equal to the faithful slave in authority. I even put a note on the side as I thought it to be quite unusual. Boy, you sure begin to see things differently as the scales start to fall off!

What I would like to know is: why are "disorderly ones" always regular publishers? Elders, MS and the higher-ups do act disorderly as well; but nothing ever happens to them.

"Marking" is a control issue. If I can't find anything to disfellow(s)hip you for, then I'll make sure that you are marked. It HAS happened. It is a 'do as we say or get out OR we'll make things miserable for you'.

You said the above, MrsMcD - I think we all know what you meant and we both know what a shit storm it would create if another poster called that poster a "house" kind - in reference to their blackness.

Don't worry about all that, Unconfused. That poster just helped to prove my point. ....I should probably also mention that I'm a female!! Talk about a rush to judgment.
