Yes, without being dramatic, similar tactics were employed in Germany under the Nazis...
...children being encouraged to "turn in" their parents... although in modern-day JW times, it would more likely be zealous parents turning in their children !
relatives can be a problem.
at least in the eyes of the wt society, relatives are a threat to the mind control tactics they employ on their slaves.. the thing is, relatives may well love their relations who have unfortunately become trapped in the watchtower lies and so may try to reason, help, rescue and perhaps even get cross when trying to release their loved ones who continue to be ensnared in the watchtower trap!.
i noticed in the last two watchtowers that relatives are mentioned specifically and wondered how far the road of isolationism of their members the watchtower is now willing to go in warning their members against those who may try to help them.. december 15th watchtower, page 22 para 8:.

need a tiif scan of the page with the triangle please.
please use the descreening filter in the scanner(epson calls it descreen).. i want to do some serious image work on the triangle but a crappy jpeg or png won't do.
if you think that i am obsessed with this triangle then you are right.
I keep giving and giving and I give some more.. How many are now aware of Pascal Petit and that she starred as a lesbian?. How many are now aware of this golden triangle? Who proved that the waterfall scene in the liveforever book was not a waterfall scene at all. If it were not for Cultswatter, JWD would be a lot more ignorant than it is today
this is big, very big.
bigger that pascal petite(well, just as big), bigger than the demonic hand or the rams head in the live forever book!!.
to present this properly, i will need a scan of the page in the live forever book where the thief is running from the police clutching a bag of goods.
I would give more details but have no way at the present because I don't have the Jan 15-08 in my hand.
...but you didn't say that in the beginning...

i think evolution is pretty sound sans the fact that they haven't answered the question of how life began.
Dawg...
It's a bit of a mind-job at first, but this book puts a weird twist on it.
It's Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch.
I found an online version here http://uni.galactic2.net/CWG_1_E.ZIP
The author was at an all time low and had loads of questions. The book is basically is set out as a dialogue between him and "God" - and it's a doddle to read.
Not sure how accurate it is compared to the original... and it comes from a weird website... but take a look.. the printed copy had me hooked.

i just attended a meeting this morning recruiting law students to study for six weeks at cambridge during the summer of '08.
the price is somewhere around $5,000, which includes tuition, room and board, and excursions.
boy, sure sounds tempting right now.
It has to be Cambridge !
You could get on the boating team
I'd make the journey to meet up and share a few pints of flat warm beer

They seem to attribute the words in Rev 22 to Jesus at times, and to Jehovah other times. Unless I misread what they intended in the scans above. What I meant was that they seem confused as to the identity, it seems muddled. Most Trinitarians use the Alpha/Omega argument in Revelation to show that Jesus/God are one.
In just reading it in both places in Revelation, sans Watchtower filters [or at least as best I can after 40 yrs indoctrination], I find it hard not to find that Jesus claims the Title for himself. That would clinch the Jesus is God argument pretty well, taken by itself.
Jeff
Great - I understood. You are so right. One JW even explained it to me that as the message was being given by God through Jesus that it would sound a little "odd", they then go onto chop and change who is speaking - even to claim that BOTH are speaking :

Jesus now adds a final word of encouragement: "Hethatbearswitnessofthesethingssays,‘Yes;Iamcomingquickly.’" (Revelation22:20a) Jesus is "the faithful and true witness." (Revelation 3:14) If he bears witness to the visions of Revelation, they must be true. Both he and Jehovah God himself repeatedly stress the fact that they are coming "quickly," or soon, Jesus here saying that for the fifth time. (Revelation 2:16; 3:11; 22:7, 12, 20) The "coming" is to execute judgment on the great harlot, the political "kings" and all others who oppose "the kingdom of our Lord [Jehovah] and of his Christ."—Revelation 11:15; 16:14, 16; 17:1, 12-14.16
Your knowing that Jehovah God and Jesus are coming quickly should encourage you to keep "close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah." (2 Peter 3:12) Any seeming stability of the earth of Satan’s system of things is illusory. Any seeming success that the heaven of the worldly rulers under Satan might achieve is transitory. These things are passing away. (Revelation 21:1) The only permanence is to be found in Jehovah, his Kingdom under Jesus Christ, and his promised new world. Never lose sight of that!—1 John 2:15-17.

Of course the fact that even the WTS cannot keep track of who is the Alpha and Omega would lend absolutely no creedence to the idea that both could be, could it?
Jeff
No sure what you mean Jeff. I think in later literature, the WTBTS says that BOTH Jesus and Jehovah are "coming quickly" in Revelation, not sure if they claim that the "Alpha and Omega" is both though. I guess that it could only apply to both if Jesus were God.
my fading brother just informed me of two jw suicides in his area within the last few weeks.. one was recently disfellowshipped.. the other was an active publisher, possibly a ministerial servant.
.
both left young children behind.. the cases appear to be unrelated.. of course suicide is nothing unique to jehovah's witnesses.. but most of us know that as a group they are no happier than any other segment of the population, quite possibly less so due to the burdens placed upon them and their paradisaic hopes that go perpetually unrealized.. .
NVR - Thanks for highlighting this.
It is sad... and it links in with a recent thread here about JWs and depression.
So much pressure put on people, so much playing with emotions and so much manipulation.
For the two that we know about and another for those that are on the brink
