Are you using a PC or a MAC ?
Are you trying to change your avatar or post pictures ?
Oh.. I see the topic title has changed.... okay.
If you are posting on a PC, then just get the URL of the image in your clipboard....
Then click on the square box with a piece of chain under it (next to the smiley) and then paste the URL into that.
You will then get some handles on the pic to allow you to resize it.
Nice !
I had a look at the code for this, and it looks like this - not sure if it will help...

1926 - the end of christmas at bethel.
this photo was the last ever christmas celebration at bethel.. here is a talk given by fred franz that explains how it came to an end:.

The book only mentions Rutherford's place at the dinner.
There are some other annotations on the internet, but they only place Rutherford (some incorrectly).
My guess is that Ms Boyd would be very near Rutherford.
Does anyone know why the story of the Grinch stealing Christmas doesn't seem to appear in the Watchtowers of that time ?

The photo with the numbers on it came from the website mentioned on the photo.
The original photo comes from Ray Franz, "in Search of Christian Freedom" - I'll dig into the book to see if he mentions who is in the photo.
AO
i hope you don't mind me posting.
my sister has been a witness for it must be 25 years.
when they came calling years ago she was at a low ebb and had been trying to read the bible but failing to understand it.
A long shot... but you could always ask her what it is really about... she may offer you a study, then armed with some info from this site you may be able to sew a few seeds of doubt.
Not sure about how much you know of JW theology but take a look at this site http://www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/home.html
It'll give you an idea.

Unfortunately I don't know where this talk came from or when it was given.
Here are the main points of the talk :
19/12/1926 Talk given by a bethel speaker - Norman Woodriff (spelling ?)
Shocked all of "us who were in the audience" (apparantly including Franz);
Fred Franz spoke in favour of celebrating Christmas.
Rutherford was informed over dinner and a heated debate followed.
Rutherford was not in favour of cancelling that Christmas celebration.
Christmas went ahead, all bar one opposer whose chair was removed from the Christmas dinner table.
Norman Woodriff was disfellowshipped later (separate incident)
The following year a talk was given on Rutherford's instructions (but not written or delivered by him).
Christmas was then cancelled !
again, as before, many many thanks to fokyc for the scans; i've pdf'd them and made them searchable.. there is mention of 1914 in this edition and mention of 144,000. .
i'll make no more comments until you've had a chance to read it.. we thought it might be interesting to compare the new formats (study vs public).

fukitol,
Jesus specifically warned his disciples not to be fooled by the mere occurence of wars, famines, etc.Thank you. I thought I was the only one here who realized that Jesus was warning his disciples against deceivers who would be pointing to events such as wars, famines and so on as a sign of the "Parousia".
People also need to read what the word "parousia" meant to those guys at that time. It was a grand visit of a noted dignitary to a town or district. It certainly was not invisible (like the "King's New Clothes"). It was a grand celebration, where people made many preparations, even minting commemoratory coins, building new roads, and so on. "Invisible"? Give me a break.
Jesus warned against not making the necessary (spiritual) preparations for the forthcoming "Parousia", as happened in Noah's time. And that Parousia was not invisble.
Doug
Doug, excellent reasoning. Fukitol, I was only discussing this yesterday with someone. It seems that many JWs can ignore the words of Jesus and replace them with "Watchtower-think".
