I don't think technology exists yet to take an audio file and convert it to text. Dragon requires you to train it first to YOUR voice. So sending random voices through it wouldn't work.
Dragon does require some training - but there is some generic software out there.
It is fairly slow (the slower the software works, the more accurate it is). I used this type of software to transcribe a talk from the 1970s - it wasn't very accurate as it didn't understand the WT jargon.

That is really neat. The online MP3 recordings are a replacement for the WT and Awake audio tapes. They are cutting costs. I am surprised that they aren't making the magazines available in PDF format for home printing.
PO's Son - I am surprised too - especially as local congregations have been told not to place literature unless they feel that the householder is going to read it.
I think the audio only format IS a way of hiding it. Only people really interrested are going to listen - you cant SKIM an audio file. Also - you can't SEARCH an audio file. Also check for sumliminal messages in those audio files
Missing Link - Firstly, nice hidden message Secondly, I agree - it is much harder for apostates to highlight the difference in Audio files as opposed to paper articles. Given that many Witnesses will only accept original literature to compare, this makes it harder to prove that a talk is genuine. I also think that this is a way to appeal to the "Yoof Market" - download a talk, pop it on your Mp3 player - It's Watchtower MTV.

the mind boggles as i begin, haltingly, to fathom what many of you have already learned and shared here on jwd: the authenticity of the bible is seriously in question.

I am also reading a book at the moment that has a similar theme - "The Laughing Jesus" (Freke and Gandy).
In it they claim that much of the writing that is attributed to Paul is actually forged (mostly the literalist stuff) and that Paul was actually a Gnostic.
In it they tear apart various chronologic aspects of the Old and New Testaments.
Maybe something else to add to the reading list - I'll look at the books that you mentioned.
In fact, in their later book "The Gospel of The Second Coming", Paul gets to see what the world has made of his writings in the year 2000 or so - he is appauled that we rank them as scripture (from memory).

If we are going for the new light angle, then my guess is that 144,000 will be given an additional meaning. ...or maybe that an "unanointed" GB member will be appointed - who will then discover his anotinted calling. ...it could be anything really.

NEW CAR FOR BUBBLE
by south african beef inbubble and i are off to choose a new car for her tomorrow.. we won't get it tomorrow as she wants the new '08 plate but we have to decide soon.. the choice is either a vw golf 1.6tsi match or a fiat grande punto 1.4dynamic sport - which shall we go for?.
the glof we would probably have to buy on personal contract hire but the punto we buy outright.
she has a punto now.. i know the golf has a good reputation for reliability but it's a bit dull!
